How to watch the Bundesliga: live stream every match online this weekend

Posted: 23 May 2020 10:47 AM PDT

Germany has restarted its Bundesliga 2019/20 season ahead of every other major European league - masters of efficiency that they are, the country never fails to live up to antiquated stereotypes. It gives football fans a real glimmer of hope, though,  after the Covid-19 sports shutdown. Ready for the next kick-off? Saturday afternoon's fixtures saw title chasers Dortmund see off Wolfsburg 2-0 - while Friday night offered a Berlin derby where Hertha thrashed Union 4-0.The goals are coming thick and fast, so here's how to get a Bundesliga live stream and watch every match online this weekend - including for FREE!

Yes, it's finally time to banish those memories of Belarusian Premier League relegation six-pointers and Nicaraguan league cup clashes - top-flight European soccer is now back on the menu again and the first weekend of Bundesliga fixtures saw no less than 27 goals banged in. Now, a new round of matches is upon us as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund continue their nearly neck-in-neck pursuit of the Salatschüssel.

You'll find a complete Bundesliga fixture list below, with the forthcoming batch of games serving as something of an appetizer for next week's big clash - Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. That could well prove to be a Bundesliga title decider - but first Germany's top two teams face tricky opponents in Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg, respectively.

Dortmund's trip to Wolfsburg looks particularly precarious, as the Lower Saxony side need a strong finish to the season to realize their ambitions of European football next season.

Dortmund, meanwhile, have slightly loftier aspirations - of being the team to break Bayern Munich's run of seven straight Bundesliga titles. And English football fans will be particularly interested in Dortmund's endeavours, as rising Three Lions star Jadon Sancho is part of a ferocious Dortmund attack that also features Norwegian wunderkind Erling Braut Haaland, German international Mario Götze, and Eden Hazard's younger brother, Thorgan.

American soccer fans also have plenty of reason to want to tune in to the Bundesliga this weekend, with promising youngsters like Josh Sargent (Werder Bremen) and Weston McKennie (Schalke) plying their trade in the Bundesliga this season alongside USMNT veterans John Brooks  (Wolfsburg) and Fabian Johnson (Borussia Mönchengladbach)

With that in mind, here's this weekend's complete fixture list, followed by how to live stream the Bundesliga and watch every match online - including all the legitimate free viewing options available today.

Bundesliga fixtures and results: all this weekend's games

There are nine Bundesliga fixtures scheduled across Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week - which started with the Hertha vs Union Berlin derby. Here's the full list, along with results and when you can watch the next matches in Germany, the UK and US.

How to watch the Bundesliga from outside your country

If you're abroad and can't bear to miss out on Bundesliga football, don't worry. While you may initially encounter a problem watching your usual domestic coverage in the form of geo-blocking, there's an easy solution to this common annoyance.

It's called a VPN and it's a clever bit of software that relocates your device back to your country of origin - thereby allowing you to regain access to the services you normally use (and almost certainly pay for) back home.

The Justice League Snyder Cut is arguably pointless – but everyone will watch it

Posted: 23 May 2020 08:00 AM PDT

What's your guiltiest secret pleasure? For me, it's that I enjoy 2016's Batman Vs Superman. Just to be clear, I don't think it's a good movie. But it was the quintessential 2016 superhero film, to me: a furious, bloated, violent mess that somehow mirrored my overall sentiments about a politically turbulent year.

Captain America: Civil War, released at a similar time and exploring a similar theme of superheroes and collateral damage, was far better. But director Zack Snyder made the sort of film you'd never see in the MCU: a self-indulgent, far-too-long and tonally wonky picture that doesn't have any of the fun bits you should probably put in a superhero movie.

It's such an angry film: people are angry at Superman for the destruction of Metropolis. Superman is angry at Batman for violently attacking criminals. Batman is angry at Superman because he blames him for the death of his employees. Lex Luthor is angry at Superman because he's a jealous billionaire with nothing better to do. Batman Vs Superman has this intensifying rage over its first two acts, before the movie takes a total left-turn and becomes a big monster fight at the end.

Like I say, I don't think it's very good. But there is something compelling about it, and it's a film I love discussing and dissecting with people. There wasn't really anything worth remembering in 2017's follow-up Justice League, which despite extensive efforts to recut the film behind the scenes, felt like a cynical attempt to retrofit another movie into a bland rip-off of a cheery MCU film.

It was a total waste of time, and given that the mangled end result flopped at the box office anyway, Warner Bros might as well have released Snyder's director's cut and saved themselves a reported $20 million, not to mention sparing us three years' worth of hashtags.

Now, Snyder will get his shot at presenting his cut of the movie in 2021 for new streaming service HBO Max. Good for him. Snyder had to drop out of the original Justice League production due to the tragic death of his daughter. Considering the circumstances, he deserves his movie.

Why the Snyder Cut makes sense for HBO Max

HBO Max, meanwhile, got the biggest possible marketing beat it could ask for, just before the streaming service's May 27 launch. The recut film could be almost four hours long (and divided into six TV-style episodes, according to a THR report), and gives them a major exclusive to look forward to in 2021.

The response to the Snyder Cut news was divided: campaigners (if that's what you call sitting in your house and tweeting these days) were delighted, while others groaned that the resulting movie probably wouldn't be much better than the original, and that it's another example of a big company caving in to angry internet boys.

There is at least some element of that to the 'Release the Snyder Cut' campaign, even though I'm sure many fans just have good intentions. Just check out the shitty responses to replacement director Joss Whedon's tweet here, and it's clear there's a nasty undercurrent to parts of the 'movement' that makes it hard to see the news as a universally positive thing (Side note: imagine having real principles that weren't about a bad movie featuring Batman and Superman).

Still, that aside, no matter what you think of the news, it's a fascinating turn of events. This actually isn't the first time something like this has happened with a DC movie – the Richard Donner cut of 1980's Superman 2 saw the director doing something similar, albeit much later and on a smaller scale. THR's sources say this project could cost between $20-30 million in post-production costs.

Here's the thing: I do think Snyder will release a film that's more interesting than Justice League. I'm sure I'll ultimately find his Justice League film memorable, strangely engaging and worth talking about years later, which is how I feel about both Man of Steel and Batman Vs Superman. I'm not convinced, though, that the finished result will be good, even if I'm encouraged by the endorsement of Watchmen's Damon Lindelof

And in some ways, I guess I don't know what the point of the Snyder Cut is on a cultural level. Is this rewriting history? Is this Warner admitting the original film was bad? Is this going to lead to a proper Justice League sequel, at an investment of hundreds of millions of dollars? It's none of those, most likely. The Snyder Cut is just a thing that is happening. But I'm certain people will watch it, even if they don't like the idea of it.

How can you look away from a movie with such a strange journey?

To be fair to Snyder, Justice League did look like it was going to be more fun than Batman Vs Superman when he was still directing it. This 2016 trailer was shown at San Diego Comic Con, and while the music is overdoing it, some of the moments in this trailer (Barry Allen meeting Bruce Wayne) ended up being highlights of the finished film.

The point for those campaigning for the recut movie's release is that it will allow Snyder to complete his three-movie arc as he saw it. "This movie was the culmination of a hero's journey that all these characters went on," producer Deborah Snyder said to THR. "And the idea was always to build them up to be the heroes people expected them to be."

Snyder and screenwriter Chris Terrio's vision of Batman was an alcoholic who mercilessly gunned down criminals in his car. I don't think his interpretation of DC's superheroes will ever be to everyone's tastes. But I do know that whatever version of Justice League he comes out with, I'll be thinking about it for years afterwards – for better or worse.

If an iOS 13 bug is stopping your apps from loading, you're not alone

Posted: 23 May 2020 08:00 AM PDT

There's a new iOS bug doing the rounds, linked to the roll out of iOS 13.5 a few days ago: it prevents certain apps from loading, displaying the message "This app is no longer shared with you. To use it, you must. buy it from the App Store."

As reported by 9to5Mac and others, the bug seems to be affecting a substantial number of users, though it's not clear exactly what fraction of the millions of iPhone and iPad users out there have had problems.

While Apple has yet to weigh in on what's happening, it seems as though the issue is at Apple's end – a blip in the iCloud servers is probably causing some apps to get flagged as unauthorized, though that's just speculation at the moment.

If that is the case, the silver lining is that Apple should be able to patch up the problematic code without having to roll out another software update. If Apple responds with news that the bug is patched, we'll let you know here.

What's gone wrong – and how to fix it

At this stage it looks unlikely that there's anything wrong with your device or your iCloud account, if you've had the misfortune to see the error message on your iPhone or iPad. The theory that the iCloud Family Sharing service is to blame is one doing the rounds.

If you see the bug showing up on your screen, the best course of action appears to be to uninstall and then reinstall the offending app. That should be enough to reestablish your credentials and get everything working again.

However, with the problem seemingly affecting apps at random, it's a huge inconvenience for anyone who owns one of Apple's expensive portable devices – so a fix would be appreciated sooner rather than later.

Next month we're expecting to hear all about what Apple is planning for iOS 14 when it rolls out later in the year. Let's hope the launch of the next version of Apple's mobile operating system is free from glitches and errors.

What we're watching on Netflix, Disney Plus and Amazon during lockdown

Posted: 23 May 2020 08:00 AM PDT

It’s only in times of crisis that we realize how dependent we are on our favorite TV shows to carry us through. Sometimes we need a heart-warming comedy to lift our spirits, or a dystopian vision to remind us that things aren’t as bad as they seem. And if things are as bad as they seem, there’s plenty of TV series in the middle vying to be our distraction for the night.

We’ve written about the very best Netflix shows, Disney Plus movies, or anime series we think are objectively – as objectively as possible, at least – worth watching. But for the shows that we’re currently using to fill our time, shut out the world, or give us a much-needed chuckle during times of stress, this is our guide to our favorite TV series to binge during lockdown.

Some are more recent shows, and others from a good few years ago, but the common thing connecting them all is that they’re all currently available to stream, and have been helping the TechRadar team get through the long weeks and months.

Parks and Recreation

watch parks and rec special online

Is anything more comforting than Parks and Recreation in these troubled times? While the sitcom ended its final season in 2015, its warm ribbing of local government feels as silly, heartfelt, and perfectly delivered as in its heyday.

Starring Amy Poehler as Deputy Director of the Parks and Recreation department in the run-down American town of Pawnee, with ambitions of running for political office, this NBC show offers seven seasons of laughter and excellent character portrayals, thanks to the comedic talents of of Aubrey Plaza, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, among many others. (Even Michelle Obama appears in a cameo.)

And right now, watching a satire of everyday people dealing with largely small stakes is exactly what’s keeping me sane. – Henry St Leger

Where to stream: Amazon Prime Video

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

She-Ra has been a consistently great show through its first four seasons, and the fifth and final set of episodes just dropped. The revival jettisons nearly everything from the original 1985 cartoon to bring a wholly new take on the onetime He-Man spinoff. The new She-Ra is a straightforward adventure about friendship, but it deftly explores trauma, trust, betrayal, and redemption, too. It’s the rare all-ages show that manages to be affirming without becoming condescending to younger audiences, heartbreaking without becoming bleak.

As a bonus that hopefully isn’t a novelty much longer: the cast of characters comes in a variety of skin tones, body shapes, and apparent sexualities. Every viewer should easily find a favorite. (Scorpia tribe, represent.) – David Lumb

Where to stream: Netflix

The Imagineering story

The Imagineering story

The Imagineering Story is probably the best documentary series on Disney Plus and it’s precisely the type of whimsical journey my eyeballs need at this trying time. The six-episode series takes an in-depth look at how the Disney theme parks and attractions were created, focusing mainly on the extraordinary Imagineers who conceived and created the famous parks and rides.

Imagineering Story will make you want to immediately book a trip to your nearest Disney parks and will leave you gobsmacked at just how incredibly creative some people are – while you lie there, eating Doritos and watching them be productive. – Vic Hood

Where to stream: Disney Plus

Lost

Lost

I never finished Lost's final season, because I worked on a sci-fi magazine back when it ended and had the finale ruined for me by a work assignment (woe is me!). Even though I know the island-based mystery drama doesn't answer a lot of the questions it raises, the journey in this show is frequently exciting – and I've enjoyed watching it with my partner, who knows nothing about the show.

After mostly watching flabby cable and streaming shows for the past year, it's still refreshing to watch an exciting drama that's only 40 minutes an episode. – Samuel Roberts

Where to stream: IMDB TV (US), Amazon Prime Video (UK)

The Kominksy Method

The Kominksy Method

If I’m as good-spirited and as suave a dresser as Sandy Kominsky when I’m older, I’ll count my blessings. The Kominsky Method mixes heartfelt humor with candid conversations about what life is like when you’re an older gentleman: dealing with a problematic prostate, coping with the loss of a loved one, and how sitting in a children’s park is apparently no longer acceptable.

Funny, endearing and wonderfully written, The Kominsky Method delivers the type of uplifting entertainment that we could all use right now. – Adam Vjestica

Where to stream: Netflix

Never Have I Ever

Never Have I Ever

From the funny mind of Mindy Kaling comes this angsty-yet-affectionate teen comedy drama, following a sophomore high schooler trying to forge a new identity – with mixed results – while grappling with the aftermath of grief.

Despite the subject matter, though, it’s very easy watching, with brilliantly silly characters as well as a refreshing amount of diversity in both its casting and the kind of relationships explored onscreen. Expect plenty of humor around the clash of familial expectations and personal growth, authenticity and popularity, sexual fantasy and reality, and the high school drama club. – Henry St Leger

Where to stream: Netflix

This Country

This Country

This is one of the best British sitcoms of the last decade, and many will have missed it as it was relegated to BBC iPlayer in the UK, as a BBC Three production that started after the channel was moved online. I managed to watch all three seasons in a weekend (don’t worry, there’s only six episodes in each) as they're so easy to watch and feature a variety of laugh-out-loud characters, who inhabit a small village in the Cotswolds.

If you’re looking for a relaxing show to sink into during the pandemic, this is one of the best choices you’ll find right now. – James Peckham

Where to stream: BBC iPlayer (UK), Hulu (US)

Westworld

Westworld

Westworld is a prime example of a show I wouldn't have watched if it wasn't for lockdown. I saw one episode of season 2 back when it aired, and the time-hopping structure of the story seemed unnecessarily convoluted.

That said, I'm very glad I went back. Season 2 starts slow but it's ambitious, and builds to a satisfying finale that resolves some of the show's core themes. Then season 3 is basically a different show entirely, taking us away from the park and into the real world, with a bunch of new characters joining the surviving cast members.

Westworld never really says anything that clever or new, but I was more entertained by season 3 than I was by almost anything in the past two years. – Samuel Roberts

Where to stream: HBO Now/Go (US), Sky/Now TV (UK)

The Last Dance

watch The Last Dance Michael Jordan documentary online

I’m by no means a big basketball fan, but I do love documentaries, biopics and dramas based on true events. The Last Dance checks all of those boxes, as it retells the 1997-98 NBA season of the Chicago Bulls team dynasty and the rise and eventual retirement of world-famous basketball star Michael Jordan.

It’s hard not to be inspired by the discipline, dedication and business acumen of Jordan. This sports docuseries, which is filled with never-before-seen footage from a camera crew that got an all-access pass to the team, was pushed up several weeks to fill the void of sports during the lockdown. – Matt Swider

How and where to buy resistance bands and dumbbells: make the best choice

Posted: 23 May 2020 07:30 AM PDT

Dumbbells and resistance bands can really make a difference to your home workouts, which is particularly important when you can't get to a gym. They're becoming increasingly difficult to find though, with many retailers running out of stock entirely, or only having a few models left in stock.

Thankfully though, there are still some great options around, with great deals available if you know where to look.

How to buy resistance bands and dumbbells

There's so much variety when it comes to resistance bands and dumbbells, it can be hard to know which ones to pick, particularly when stock is limited to just a few different options at each retailer.

Olivia Neely, personal trainer at Starks Fitness (currently sharing home workout videos at starksfitnessgym on Instagram and offering free nutrition plans to NHS staff), gives the following advice.

Olivia Neely (Starks Fitness personal trainer):

What with demand being so high, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to buy home workout equipment at a realistic price. That said, it’s not impossible, we just need to be a bit savvier with our purchase choice and to buy a product that offers a variation of usage.

My must-have for resistance training would be a resistance band and a pair of dumbbells. Both pieces of equipment are incredibly versatile, and you’ll be sure to get an effective full body workout. They even work perfectly as a pair. As always, there’s a few options to consider, so here’s some tips to aid your purchase.

Resistance bands: which one?

It can be a mind field deciding which band is the best one to purchase. Booty bands, full body bands, bands with handles, the list goes on.

The purpose of ‘booty’ bands is in the name, these smaller bands are used to work the lower body and add resistance to your glute and leg exercises.

Full body bands are usually thinner and longer to allow you to work on upper body strength as well as some lower body exercises.

Both are inexpensive and are widely available online (delivery time may be your main obstacle) so it would be worthwhile building a collection.

Dumbbells: how to beat the hefty price tag

This widely sought-after equipment can prove a difficult find since lockdown began. What was an affordable addition to your home workout kit has seen sales rocket and now, so has the price tag. It’s no surprise why, as they not only sit neatly in the corner of the room, you can also use them with almost every exercise.

Prices ranges depending on the weight of the kit, and the average 5-10kg weight is often not available. So, what can you do?

Consider buying a lower weight and a full body resistance band (with or without handles). Using the two together offers added resistance, making those 2kg weights feel a whole lot heavier. You can also use methods such as increasing reps, sets, tempo and lessen your rest time to increase the burn even further.

Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt live stream: how to watch today's Bundesliga clash online

Posted: 23 May 2020 07:23 AM PDT

On a run of 11 wins in their their last 12 Bundesliga matches, the league leaders must now face a side edging closer to the wrong end of the table - and arguably more dangerous than ever as a result. Don't miss a moment of this crucial game with our guide: here's how to get a Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt live stream and watch the Bundesliga fixture from anywhere in the world today.

Despite it being a scrappy encounter at times, Bayern were nevertheless comfortable 2-0 winners on the road at Union Berlin last weekend. The irrepressible Robert Lewandowski was on target from the spot, with French star Benjamin Pavard making the game safe in the 80th minute to keep up their Bundesliga winning form.

While boss Hans-Dieter Flick would ideally like to field his best side, he'll have one eye on Tuesday's potential title decider against Borussia Dortmund and may opt to ring the changes for today's clash.

Frankfurt will have been hoping the enforced break would help them regroup, after a worrying slide towards the relegation spots - but defeat against Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend was their fourth in succession and has cranked up the pressure once more.

Their unenviable task to get back on track against the league leaders won't be made any easier by the loss of midfielder Dominik Kohr, who is ruled out for Saturday's game through suspension.

It's a huge game for both sides - so check out our guide below and find out how to watch a Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt live stream today.

Use a VPN to watch Bayern vs Eintracht from outside your country

If you're abroad this weekend but still want to watch coverage of the match from your home broadcaster, you'll need a VPN to do so. That's because your normal coverage will be geo-blocked.

Best A3 printers 2020: top printers for large printouts

Posted: 23 May 2020 07:08 AM PDT

Editor's note: Looking for a copier or photocopier  for your business? If you're looking for information to help you choose the one that's right for you, use the questionnaire below to have our partner site, BuyerZone, provide you with information from a variety of vendors for free:

Welcome to our pick of the best A3 printers of 2020. On this page you'll find the best large-format printers that offer brilliant print quality on A3 paper sizes, making them ideal for posters, displays and portfolios.

Most printers can handle up to A4 paper sizes, but if that's not big enough for you, then the best A3 printers in this list can help. Most importantly of all, they can print in large formats without sacrificing print quality.

This is important because there's no point printing out large documents if they aren't going to look good. However, if you want the best A3 printer that can produce excellent large-scale printouts, you're going to have to budget for it carefully, as these printers can be quite costly.

However, that doesn't mean you need to spend a fortune, as our price comparison tool will help you get the best price for the A3 printer of your choice.

So, let's take a look at the best A3 printers. If you need to make large printouts, these are the very best choices you should consider.

OKI C844dnw

What looks like your typical A4 printer turns out to be the smallest A3 printer on the market with accessories available to make it one of the largest. It can hold 300 sheets of paper in its main paper tray and 100 in its multipurpose tray, but add three more drawers and that expands to 2,540 sheets. You can even choose the banner tray upgrade for printing on rolls of paper. It can auto duplex print and has a Wi-Fi built in as standard. It uses LEDs rather than laser, but with similar effect.

Read the full review: Oki C844dnw

This high-end laser printer will take big bites out of your office space and your budget, but there’s nothing the VersaLink C7000DN can’t do exceptionally well. For a start it can duplex print on A3 paper and do it at a resolution of 1200 x 2400 DPI. It can also scan, copy and fax with all that functionality simplified by a sophisticated five-inch colour touchscreen. Text is exceptionally sharp and colours particularly bold and with plenty of optional modules available for boosting the paper capacity, this is a printer that will suit the demands of any medium-sized office.

Epson Expression Photo XP-970

Thanks to its surprisingly slim design, this inkjet photo printer can slide away under your desk when not in use and yet it’s big enough to hold one hundred sheets of A4 and handle A3 paper via the rear feed. It’s a multifunction device with a high-res A4-sized scanner and an auto duplex mode for A4 paper. Its real talent, however, is printing vivid and lifelike A3 photographs using six of Epson’s Claria inkjet cartridges at a resolution of 5760x1440DPI. Yes, replacing six cartridges is costly, but the expense is justified by the high print quality. This Epson Expression Photo XP-970 replaces the virtually identical XP-960 to which we awarded five stars.

Canon Pixma Pro 10-S

By using ten separate pigment inks, this professional photo printer can achieve superior greyscale and colour shading and results that are good enough to hang in a gallery. Canon’s pigment based LUCIA cartridges produce prints that are more stable and durable than dye-based inks and they can be replaced individually, so you don’t need to buy a whole new set when one runs out. It’s a substantial machine that can handle A3+ paper and comes with Wi-Fi built enabling you to print via the excellent Canon PRINT mobile app. You’ll find a full set of ink in the box.

Epson WorkForce WF-7210DTW

Printers aimed at the home office that can handle A3 paper are not common, but ones that can automatically print on both sides of an A3 page are downright rare. The WorkForce WF-7210DTW is one such beast and it does so quite successfully. Print quality is impressive, be that monochrome text, or a glossy photo. The long list of features includes both Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity and the two paper trays can hold 500 sheets combined.

Read the full review: Epson WorkForce WF-7210DTW

HP OfficeJet Pro 7720

This sizable four-in-one proves that A3 printers needn’t be expensive. Although it can’t scan or duplex print anything larger than A4, this inkjet can turn out full colour photos on glossy A3 paper. It can also churn mono pages of A4 at the impressive rate of 22 per minute. We found the performance a little noisy and the build quality worryingly flimsy, but at this price, we’ll recommend it to anyone who needs a multifunction device with the occasional need for A3 printouts.

Read the full review: HP OfficeJet Pro 7720

Epson EcoTank ET-7750

Epson’s second generation of EcoTank printers have refined the refillable ink system which is deployed here by a highly capable inkjet MFD. Photo quality is excellent and the ability to print on A3 paper is a real boon. The interface lacks a touchscreen and printing is slow, but the pages are well worth waiting for. If the price tag appears prohibitive, that’s because there are two sets of ink bottles in the box. Enough to print a claimed 3,600 photos!

Read the full review: Epson EcoTank ET-7750

Brother MFC-J6530

This capable colour MFD can not only print, scan, copy and fax, but it can do it all with A3 paper. The ingenious design also finds room for a 250-sheet deep paper tray and a 50-sheet automatic document feeder. Wi-Fi is built in and that 6.8cm display is a touchscreen. At 22 pages mer minute, it can turn out mono pages quickly and it’s not much slower in duplex mode

Canon Pixma Pro-100S

This looks and feels like a professional-level photo printer, but compared to most A+ models, it’s relatively inexpensive. Nonetheless, the sturdy body houses a sophisticated eight-ink print engine capable of turning out superb quality photo prints. As well as plus-sized prints, the main paper tray can hold 150 sheets of A4. It would suit a pro, or semi-pro photographer, or sit well in an office that calls for high-quality colour prints. Unlike its predecessor, the almost identical Canon Pixma Pro-100, this model now has Wi-Fi built in.

Brother MFC-J5945DW

Brother has a long line-up of business printers that include both laser and inkjet models and this inkjet brings the best of both worlds. It prints high-resolution photos on glossy photo paper and with inkjet tech being smaller, Brother has managed to give this desktop unit the ability to handle A3 paper. The rapid print speed of 22 pages per minute is a fast as many lasers.

Motorola One Fusion Plus spotted on Youtube device report

Posted: 23 May 2020 06:09 AM PDT

Looks like Motorola, the Lenovo-owned brand, is moving beyond the mid-price segment and making a strong return to the flagship smartphone space. Having launched the Edge and Edge+ in April, the company seems to be all set to launch another mid-range device, the Motorola One Fusion Plus.

Indications about the new device appeared on the YouTube Device Report page that has updated several new listings. One of them is the Motorola One Fusion Plus, a name that first came into prominence from leaker Evan Blass last month, predicting its launch sometime in Q2 of 2020.

The listing suggests that the new device comes with a 6.5-inch 1080p display and runs on Android 10. It boasts of a 5000mAh power plant and has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor under its hood. The page lists June 2020 as the release date.

The Lenovo-owned company had launched both the Motorola Edge and the Edge Plus (buy it right here) in April, both devices coming with the latest chipsets, large batteries and multi-camera arrays and the 90Hz curved OLED displays. The Edge Plus is expensive while the Edge could be more affordable when it launches later this year.

The listings on the YouTube Device page was first noticed by XDA Developers, who were quick to point out the wrong image attached to the so-called Motorola One Fusion Plus, since it was obviously that of the Motorola Edge in Solar Black. And the image uploaded against the Motorola Edge is clearly that of another device.

motorola_one_fusion_plus

Of course, one cannot be sure that the image shown against the Motorola Edge could be the One Fusion Plus. XDA Developers further points out that the only other device from the brand that has a 64MP camera is the Motorola One Hyper but the image isn't that of the particular model either.

So, what exactly does the image indicate? It suggests a flat display, a pack of four rear cameras with a 64MP primary sensor, a USB Type-C port and headphone jack and possibly a fingerprint sensor at the back. The render doesn't give many more details of the device.

However, XDA Developers suggests that the device, code-named "liberty" , has model numbers XT2067-1 and XT2067-2. It is rumoured to have 64/128GB of internal storage with multiple cameras including Samsung's 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 as the primary shooter on it.

The report says both the models have been certified by the FCC and is expected to launch in two colours - Cloud and Sugarfrost - across India, the Middle East, Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America.

And, there is every possibility that alongside the launch of the One Fusion Plus, one could also see the cheaper Motorola One Fusion, which is rumoured to have a 6.5-inch display with the Qualcomm 710 processor, 4/6GB of RAM and internal storage of either 64 or 128GB. This device would  also run on Android 10 and come with 5000mAh batteries.

It is only a matter of time before more details of these smartphones emerge as YouTube has already leaked enough to kindle interest in the market.

Incredible 8TB SSD is the largest laptop hard drive in the world

Posted: 23 May 2020 06:06 AM PDT

An up-and-coming storage challenger has managed to do what the likes of Samsung and Micron have yet to achieve; launch a consumer 8TB NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD.

Sabrent quietly unveiled the Rocket Q (SB-RKTQ-8TB) to the unsuspecting masses, doubling the capacity of its previous chart topper.

This is not the largest solid state drive out there - the ExaDrive DC100 from Nimbus Data holds that crown at 100TB - but it is the largest you can plug into a normal laptop with an M2 slot.

8TB SSD

The rest of the specification sheet is rather predictable; this is a PCIe Gen3 (rather than Gen4) model, with support for TRIM and SMART commands. It also features advanced wear leveling, bad block management and over-provision features, which should improve the drive's useful shelf life and general performance.

As with other Sabrent drives, this one also comes with a free Acronis True Image software for easy cloning.

Read/write speeds are not yet available, but given the 4TB version delivered 3.4GBps/3GBps on read/write and 0.49/0.68 MIOPS on random 4K QD32 read/write, we’d expect the 8TB model to perform at least as well.

It's worth noting the Rocket Q uses Micron QLC chips, rather than TLC technology, and a Phison E12S controller.

Sabrent is yet to confirm how much the drive will cost, but since the 4TB version was 2.5 times the price of the 2TB model, we expect the 8TB drive to retail for at least $1900, if not more.

Apple Arcade was my joyous, surprising saviour from self-isolation bedroom boredom

Posted: 23 May 2020 06:00 AM PDT

Apple Arcade had long been rumored ahead of its launch, and while its subscription model was no surprise, its direction was – it landed with around 100 mobile-exclusive titles for a small monthly fee, free of ads, in-app purchases and bursting with creativity.

I was intrigued as a gamer, but as an Android phone user, and because as a ‘vintage’ MacBook Pro owner I was locked out of the service, much of Apple Arcade passed me by at launch – I attended a press event, and had a play with a few games in the office on a colleague’s device, and that was about it.

And then I bought a secondhand iPad Pro. And then coronavirus happened. And then I was laid up in bed for a week… and then I realized Apple is building something quite remarkable with Apple Arcade.

The long road to Apple Arcade

In terms of a direct investment in the gaming community, Apple has historically steered clear, ever since its ill-fated partnership with Bandai on the Apple Pippin.

That quickly-shelved home console soured Apple’s relationship with the games industry for years (Macs still aren’t the greatest home for gamers), and it was only the introduction of mobile devices that turned the tide.

The Apple/Bandai Pippin

There’s an obvious argument for calling Apple - thanks to its phones, tablets and App Store - one of the biggest (if not the biggest) facilitators of gaming on the planet. In 2019 alone apps accounted for 90% of all smartphone use, with gaming the third most popular category of apps

That’s billions of hours of play on billions of devices, and that’s in massive part thanks to the future-gazing work pioneered in the early days of the iPhone App Store.

But mobile gaming on iPhone and Android alike is inundated with clones, cynical in-app purchases, and quick-buck making games with literal “money-or-your-life” timers ticking down the seconds we’re each given on this planet.

They've been hugely profitable, and the way Apple let them run rampant on the App Store, diluting the quality of its charts, made it seem over the years like it had little genuine interest in raising the quality bar – especially when you consider that Apple has always claimed to have the most stringent standards of all mobile operating systems when it comes to what is allowed entry into its 'walled garden' App store ecosystem.

During this period of worldwide lockdown however I’ve seen that, for the first time in a generation, Apple is back in the gaming game, – and it’s all thanks to Apple Arcade.

iOS(olation)

I can’t say that I contracted Covid-19 – I’d need a highly sought-after test to find that out, and (as I’m now in good health) I’m happy to stay indoors, thank you very much. But whatever it was that was ailing me, I felt like a sack of heavily sedated, hungover potatoes for a week.

My expectations had been colored by past experiences with mobile games – the mindless grind of Candy Crush, the-wait-or-pay-to-play city builders.

Aside from the odd loping trip to the bathroom, I didn’t feel like doing very much of anything other than staying beneath the covers, so my iPad was my window on the world for a while.

But with that window being a portal to the internet, offering a panoramic view of the end of the world, it wasn’t long before I had to turn away from news apps and streaming services; there’s only so much Tiger King a person can handle.

And Apple Arcade came to the rescue. It’s the best distillation yet of what makes mobile gaming so appealing: the option to have dozens upon dozens of titles in the palm of your hand, ready for bite-sized chunks of play.

I’m definitely refer to myself as a ‘hardcore’ gamer – I grind through Diablo sessions, and I’ve recently been on the epic quest to get through Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey

My expectations had been colored by past experiences with mobile games – the mindless grind of Candy Crush, the-wait-or-pay-to-play city builders.

As a gamer who enjoys precision controls and a gameplay flow uninterrupted by cooldown timers and in-app purchase advertisements, I’d lost faith in mobile gaming. But Apple Arcade really pulled me in with its playfulness, and its surprisingly oft-spotted theme of mindfulness.

Apple’s service is superbly curated, and my experience so far has showcased nothing but wild ambition from the wide array of (mostly indie) developers that have jumped on board.

Its growing catalogue runs the gamut from established franchises – such as appearances from SEGA’s Sonic to Ubisoft’s Rayman, to indie darlings such as developers Capybara Games and Bossa Studios.

All genres, from racing sim to turn-based tactics to puzzler to arcade sports are catered for, and most importantly there’s tons of titles that defy easy categorisation, like literary puzzler Dear Reader or color-mixing brain teaser Tint.

Touching creativity

But where Apple Arcade came into its own for me was in two key aspects: its games are all touch-friendly, so didn’t require me to dig out a gamepad in order to play (though they are widely supported), and that the sheer variety of games on offer meant there was always another interesting distraction to turn to if a particular title didn’t suit my tastes.

I may not have been able to go anywhere in the real world, but with Apple Arcade I could certainly forget that I was stuck at home, ill and in bed.

RPG puzzler Grindstone, with its wild Adventure Time-like art style, was addictive and challenging; What The Golf? and its acid-trip crazy golf courses hid better punchlines than any Netflix comedy special I’d seen in recent times; Beyond Blue was a transportative experience, a superb underwater accompaniment to the BBC’s Blue Planet series; and while Overland’s strategic take on the post-apocalypse felt a little too close to home, given current events, it was a marvellously presented take on the end of the world.

What surprised me, though, was how much I was drawn to the more meditative games on the service – the sort of titles I wouldn’t usually approach on a console.

Patterned is a simple-but-gorgeous jigsaw puzzle game that, in the best possible way, helped me to fall asleep. I’ve written about Lifelike before, but again it captivated me with its soothing pace and flower-like visuals.

I may not have been able to go anywhere in the real world, but with Apple Arcade I could certainly forget that I was stuck at home, ill and in bed.

There’s a sense that Apple wants to encompass all the possibilities that modern gaming can be with Apple Arcade – right down to cross-device play from tablet and smartphone to the Apple TV box sat under your television.

It made me think of the (so far at least) relatively muted reception the PS5 and Xbox Series X reveals have been met with: for all the talk of teraflops and speedy SSDs, there’s the sense that gaming’s more esoteric joys are being left behind.

Yes, we love a Red Dead Redemption or a The Last of Us, but it’s worth remembering that one of the biggest games in the world, Minecraft, remains a quirky indie game at heart, and runs on the lowliest of hardware.

If Minecraft were to launch today, it’d feel most at home on Apple Arcade, where variety and invention seems the most important factor for consideration.

Just like Disney Plus, Apple Arcade will have surely benefited from the side-effects of lockdown, with consumers' usual recreational habits curtailed.

I hope they too, like me, found some quiet joy in Apple Arcade’s library – and I hope realises that now is the time to really pump out those licensing deals to get more fantastic games and developers onboard, and keep the attention of a literally-captive audience.

Posted: 23 May 2020 05:00 AM PDT

Looking for the best games of 2020 so far? Then you're in the right place. We're already halfway through the year and there have been some fantastic game releases for both PC and console. And with the PS5 and Xbox Series X due to release later this year, we're sure to see more must-have titles joining their ranks.

It can be hard to keep track of all the great games that have released this year, so we've put together this handy list of the best games of 2020 so far, to help you keep track of the most essential games releases.

We'll be updating this list with each new release. So, without further ado, here are the best games of 2020.

Dreams

Dreams

Dreams is less like a game and more like a platform. Developed by Media Molecule, the creators of Little Big Planet, Dreams allows players to play, create and share worlds, games, artwork, music and more. All of this content is created in Dreams, which provides players with a plethora of tools to get creative with. But if you’re not quite an artist, you can simply take advantage of the incredible (and sometimes odd) creations of others.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Ori and the Blind Forest was arguably one of the best Xbox One games when it released back in 2015, so hopes were high when a sequel was announced. Ori and the Will of the Wisps not only lives up to the original, but it improves on it in every way. From the sumptuous art style to an overhauled and significantly improved combat system, Ori and the Will of the Wisps will firmly test your abilities as a gamer and pull on your heart strings with its emotional story.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the first new entry in the mainline Animal Crossing series for almost eight years and the first entry to be playable on the Nintendo Switch - and it was definitely worth the wait. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is packed with charm and the perfect game for those who want to kick back and just take things at their own pace. It’s familiar and fresh, deftly combining the old enjoyable parts of the series with some much-needed improvements and far greater depth than we’ve seen before.

Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal

Doom is back and it's the best it's ever been. Not only does Doom Eternal boast all the blood-pumping, gore-packed fun we expect from a Doom game, it also adds a bunch of new RPG-like elements we didn't even know we needed. If you're looking for a game that doesn't focus too much on narrative and instead throws you into ripping and tearing some demons, then Doom Eternal is one not to be missed.

Half-Life: Alyx

Half-Life: Alyx

Some were afraid that Half-Life: Alyx, one of Valve's first first VR games and the first new entry in the series in over a decade, might not live up to the expectations. But, without a shadow of a doubt, this is a Half-Life game that fills the roomy shoes that Valve left behind in 2007. It's that good.

It is, like its forebears, a mind-bending joyride with a physics system to die for. The inventive, head-scratching scientific puzzles you’re used to from the PC games? They’re here. Tense jaunts through zombie-infested death pits that instil terror better than most ‘horror’ games? Alyx has got that in droves.

Resident Evil 3

Resident Evil 3

Following up on the huge success of Resident Evil 7 and its remake of Resident Evil 2, Capcom remade Resident Evil 3 and completely nailed it. With its fast-paced action, excellent graphics and, of course, terrifying zombies; the Resident Evil 3 remake is one of the best games of 2020. What's more, you get asymmetrical-multiplayer survival horror Resident Evil: Resistance as part of the package.

Check out our full Resident Evil 3 review.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

The FF7 Remake had the impossible task of satisfying people's memories of a 23 year-old RPG classic, while only tackling less than a third of its original story. It's successful in a lot of ways, though, especially in its combat, which finally shows how the Final Fantasy series can bring the complexity of turn-based battles into its real-time action. While the sidequests are flabby and the deviations from the original game will prove divisive, this finally gives fans what they've been asking for.

Check out our full Final Fantasy 7 Remake review.

Streets of Rage 4

Streets of Rage 4

It’s been 25 years since gamers took on countless thugs as Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding, but Streets of Rage 4 emphatically proves that Sega’s once dormant series still can’t be beat. It manages to feel completely new yet instantly familiar, which is helped in no small part by the slew of unlockable content that centers around the previous games. With its phenomenal soundtrack and super satisfying combo system, you’ll find yourself taking to the streets time and time again.

How to watch the new Lance Armstrong documentary on ESPN and ESPN+ this Sunday

Posted: 23 May 2020 04:39 AM PDT

If you were worried that The Last Dance coming to a conclusion also meant the end of quality sport documentaries on Sunday nights, then we have some good news. ESPN will fill the slot left open by Michael, with another one of the nation's most famous and controversial sports stars - Lance.

Yep, the cycling world's antihero Lance Armstrong is back on our screens in a two-part documentary that was lauded at the Sundance Film Festival and is set to be jam-packed with revealing interviews and gobsmacking revelations. Armstrong's full hero-to-zero story will be laid out for all to witness. But will it change your mind about the man stripped of seven consecutive Tour de France titles following allegations of doping?

Don't forget, this is a competitor who was hero to so many - his biggest glories came only after overcoming testicular cancer. And as ever with these huge media scandals, there's always more than one side to every story. This is the chance to see what Lance thinks of it all now looking back, as well as the views of friends, family, peers and journalists.

So if you're missing sport (and German Bundesliga football isn't quite scratching that itch), then settle down for the story of history's most (in)famous cycling stars. We'll explain how to watch Lance, whether you're planning to tune in live or catch-up afterwards.

Stream Lance as it airs on Sunday night in the US

How to watch Lance on catch-up

What else comes with an ESPN+ subscription?

Quite a lot as it happens - a subscription to ESPN+ opens up access to over 20 exclusive live and replayed UFC Fight Nights, loads of documentaries like the Oscar-winning O.J.: Made in America, and on-demand action of history's greatest matches - think Wimbledon finals, Super Bowls, boxing title fights and loads more.

Oh yeah, and when live sport finally gets going again, ESPN+ also hosts tonnes of coverage including soccer, hockey, baseball...the list goes on.

What's it about?
If you've been living under a rock and don't know about Cyberpunk 2077 then let us enlighten you.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an dystopian RPG from The Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt Red, set in a gritty, science fiction world metropolis. It's based off the pen-and-paper RPG of the same name and promises to be a game-changer when it releases this year – though sadly a few months later than expected.

If that's not enough for you, then the announcement that Keanu Reeves plays a major role in the game should hopefully get you excited.

Watch Dogs: Legion

Watch Dogs: Legion

When's it out?
Sometime in 2020 (delayed from March 6, 2020)

What platform?
PS4, Xbox One and PC

What's it about?
Watch Dogs: Legion seems to see you taking on an organization called Albion who have distributed riot drones all over London to keep people in line. You're a member of the resistance: DeadSec.

What's interesting about Legion is that you play as more than one character (a whole host actually), with permadeath wiping out the one you're playing if you happen to end up on the wrong end of an electric bullet. You can apparently play as anyone - with every Londoner being recruitable and fully simulated.

Marvel's Avengers sees you playing as your favorite superhero in an all-new story set in the Marvel universe. Playing as one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, your mission is to save the day from an evil force - just normal superhero stuff.

Officially announced at E3 2019, the game will have a multiplayer component alongside a single-player campaign, though it wasn't shown off during the event. What we've heard from Crystal Dynamics in a closed-door briefing is that you'll assemble into teams of four online, customize your characters and fight online together through new scenarios. Crystal Dynamics says this content will be free and will come at a constant clip.

When's it out?
June 19, 2020

What platform?
PS4

What's it about?
The Last of Us 2 sees Ellie all grown up and much more mature than we've seen her before - not only is she fanning the flames of romance but she's also become a lot more violent (read: badass) in her efforts to survive.

We don't know much about the story so far but we do know Troy Baker is involved so Joel is definitely going to show up eventually.

When's it out?
July 17, 2020

What platform?
PS4

What's it about?
We don't know a whole lot about Ghost of Tsushima yet, except that it's an open world action-adventure being developed by Suckerpunk Studios and published by Sony - meaning it'll be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Ghost of Tsushima is set in 1274 Japan - during the first Mongolian invasion - and sees you take on the role of last samurai on Tsushima Island, determined to defend his home and traditions.

What's it about?
The sixth game in the main Halo series, Microsoft announced at its E3 2019 keynote that Halo Infinite will be a launch title for the next-gen Xbox Series X consoles during Holiday 2020.

While we don't know much about what to expect from Halo Infinite, we do know that Master Chief is back and he looks stunning on next-generation hardware (well, from the trailers).

New Call of Duty

New Call of Duty

When's it out?
2020

What platform?
TBC but probably PC, Xbox One and PS4 (plus PS5 and Xbox Series X)

What's it about?
As sure as the sun rises, we know that we're going to see a new Call of Duty game every year. Sure enough, Activision recently confirmed that a new "premium" Call of Duty is in the works and due for release in 2020.

While we don’t know much about the new Call of Duty yet, we do know that Black Ops developer Treyarch is working on the game with support from Sledgehammer Games after a development switch up. This year’s game is rumored to be a reboot of the Black Ops franchise similar to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019), with the title rumored to be ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’.

Breath of the Wild 2

Breath of the Wild 2

When's it out?
TBC

Nintendo Switch

What's it about?
Nintendo has confirmed that a The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel is in development, with a trailer suggesting a darker turn for the next mainline Zelda game.

We don't know much about Breath of the Wild 2, but we've got high hopes considering its predecessor was such a critical success. What we do know is that it'll land on Nintendo Switch - the big question is when?

When's it out?
TBC

What platform?
Probably PS4, Xbox One and PC

What's it about?
After being an open secret for so long, Dragon Age 4 has now been confirmed by BioWare and we’ve even been teased by a minute-long trailer. At the moment we’re cautiously calling the game Dragon Age 4 (but this title isn’t confirmed).

It'll no doubt be a couple of years before we see the fourth instalation in the popular RPG franchise Dragon Age, but we're expecting a bigger open-world, further exploration of that cliffhanger and even more characters to swoon over and seduce.

The Elder Scrolls 6

When's it out?
TBC

What platform?
Probably PS4, Xbox One and PC

What's it about?
We've no idea what it's about but we definitely won't see The Elder Scrolls 6 release in 2019 - but it's hard to ignore the behemoth so we're being delusionally optimistic.

Metroid Prime 4

When's it out?
TBC

What platform?
Nintendo Switch

What's it about?
A brand new Metroid Prime game is coming to the Nintendo Switch. However, Metroid Prime 4 may be some way off as Nintendo had to scrap the project back in January 2019 and start again.

Due to development problems, we don't know much about what Metroid Prime 4 will involve, or when we will see it, but we can't help but be excited.

Starfield

Probably PC, PS4 and Xbox One

What's it about?
We don't really know what Starfield is about yet. Bethesda has been pretty tight-lipped about its upcoming single-player RPG. We do know it's set in outer space and that it'll be a while before it's released.
