Apple : New iPad pre-orders sold-out, Apple says |
New iPad pre-orders sold-out, Apple says Posted: Apple says the new iPad stock it had allocated for pre-orders has been completely exhausted amid unprecedented demand for the third-generation tablet. The new iPad, complete with Retina Display and A5X processor was announced last week and almost immediately became available for pre-order ahead of the March 16th release date. The company had promised delivery of the first batch of orders for March 16th, but now UK customers can expect at a 2-3 week wait to get their hands-on the tablet. Of the chartsUSA Today has obtained a statement from Apple explaining that although the initial stock has been snapped up, the pre-order process is still open. It reads: "Customer response to the new iPad has been off the charts and the quantity available for pre-order has been purchased. "Customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date." The company is also limiting orders to two per person. This of course, could be clever marketing from Apple amid what was a relatively unsurprising update, but if the online sales are anything to go by, queues at Apple Retail Stores are likely to be as long as ever next Friday. |
