Apple : Latest PS5 dev kit leak shows two consoles with controllers

Apple : Latest PS5 dev kit leak shows two consoles with controllers

Latest PS5 dev kit leak shows two consoles with controllers

Posted: 30 Nov 2019 01:31 PM PST

Another image of the PlayStation 5 development kit appears to have leaked online.

The latest leak can be found on Twitter, where a user has posted a photo with the caption “PS5 anyone?”.

The photo seems to show two PS5 dev kits sitting together, though there’s been no official confirmation that they’re the real deal. It’s worth noting, however, that their appearance aligns with other images that have leaked previously as well as a Sony design patent that has surfaced online.

V interesting

The Verge’s Tom Warren has also posted to say that these are dev kits and to explain that their design is to make them easily stackable for developers during stress tests.

Devkits don’t usually reflect a console’s final design so if these are bona-fide dev kits, they probably shouldn't be taken as any kind of indication of what we can expect when the PS5 launches towards the end of 2020. This is kind of a shame as the V-shape of the dev kit and its tie-in with the Roman numeral for 5 is neat and certainly different. We'd imagine any retail release would be a little more sleek.

As such, we can't glean a huge deal from the photo, although some have suggested that towards the right of the consoles we’re seeing a pair of DualShock 5 prototypes. It’s impossible to tell for sure, especially given the latest patent leak suggests the PS5 controller won’t be far away from the DualShock 4 in terms of appearance. But it does look like the most visible controller in this photo is lacking a light strip on its top which matches up with the recent patent's description. Without any official confirmation from Sony, however, nothing here is definite.

Regardless, as we’re nearing the end of 2019 we’re hoping it won’t be too much longer before we get to see the retail version of the PS5. In the meantime, this will certainly do.

When is The Mandalorian episode 5 released on Disney Plus?

Posted: 30 Nov 2019 01:06 PM PST

Wondering when The Mandalorian episode 4 releases on Disney Plus? New episodes of the show drop every Friday on Disney Plus, with two exceptions: the first episode launched on a Tuesday when the Disney Plus streaming service was released, and the seventh episode will launch on a different day too. We'll explain more below.

You can read the official release schedule of The Mandalorian season one below. Want to know how to watch The Mandalorian? We've got a guide for that.

When is the next episode of The Mandalorian on Disney Plus?

The next episode of The Mandalorian, episode 5, releases on Disney Plus on December 6, next Friday. You'll be able to stream it then in the US, Canada, the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand, which are all the territories where you can currently get Disney Plus. Episodes arrive at around midnight PT, although some users reported it dropping a little earlier this week. The time seems to vary.

If you want to watch each new episode as soon as it arrives, be prepared to stay up late if you're in the US. It's worth it for Baby Yoda, right?

When do the other episodes of The Mandalorian season one release?

They all release each Friday over the next two months, with the exception of the seventh episode, which releases on a Wednesday (it's unclear why this is). There are eight episodes in total. Here's the official confirmed release schedule from Disney:

When is The Mandalorian season one finale?

As explained above, the season one finale of The Mandalorian arrives on Disney Plus on December 27. Between this show, Jedi: Fallen Order and The Rise of Skywalker, you can pretty much fill this holiday season with as much Star Wars as you can possibly enjoy.

The Mandalorian season 2 is already filming.

Should I buy a Tefal ActiFry Original Plus?

Posted: 30 Nov 2019 09:11 AM PST

If you love the taste of fried foods but want to watch the waistline, it may be worth investing in an air fryer. The latest air frying gadgets can cook a wide range of tasty meals quickly and evenly, with very little or no oil needed.

Guilt-free crispy chips? You got it. A low-fat Chinese stir fry? Coming right up. Tefal’s Actifry Original Plus, for example, has a unique patented heat pulse system and rotating stirring paddle that cooks a variety of meals with minimum effort required by you – simply listen out for the timer so you know when to dish up the plates.

We've been seeing these compact cooking gadgets crop up as Cyber Monday deals following Black Friday, so we thought we’d take a closer look at the Tefal ActiFry Original Plus here. You will in fact find it for £99.99 / $129 / AU$190 in Amazon’s Tefal ActiFry Original Plus Black Friday deal, down from £229.99 / $296 / AU$438

It’s worth noting that there are other brands offering equally stylish solutions to suit a range of budgets. Read TechRadar’s in-depth review of the best air fryer here, where you’ll find more detail on designs by the likes of Ninja, Wilko, Princess and Swan.

The Bottom Line: Got a lot of mouths to feed? 20% larger than the Tefal Original ActiFry and only slightly more expensive, the Tefal ActiFry Original Plus lets you cook up to five portions at a time - as opposed to four.

Pros: You’ll be surprised at the variety of healthy recipes you can cook using the Tefal ActiFry Original Plus. The design lets comes with an inspirational recipe book that includes dishes such as ‘Garlic King Prawns’ to start, a Vegan Thai Noodle Bowl with Peanut Sauce for main, and ‘Lower-fat Doughnuts’ for pudding.  There’s also a My ActiFry app that gives you access to 150+ recipes.

Cons: While the Tefal ActiFry Original Plus is ideal for serving up to five people, if you have a particularly large number of mouths to feed, you may want to try a larger design such as the Tefal ActiFry Genius XL, which has a 1.7kg capacity and costs £149 / $192 / AU$284. You can read our in-depth Tefal ActiFry Genius XL review for more details.

Tefal ActiFry Original Plus: Everything you need to know

Tefal is an established brand that has been going for 60 years. As the story goes, in 1956 keen fisherman and Tefal inventor Marc Gregoire realised the benefits of using a non-stick coating on his fishing line. His wife then suggested he apply the same technology to kitchen pans to stop food from sticking. Shortly after, he designed Tefal’s first non-stick coating on a pan and the rest they say is history. As well as ActiFry the company now produces a wide range of ergonomic household equipment including non-stick frying pans and steam irons.

Over on the Tefal website, we’ve found up to 14 air fryer models available – all in varying shapes and sizes.  As well as cooking convenience foods such as chips, you can use them to prepare casseroles, risottos and curries for a delicious home-cooked experience. Here are a few key features of the Tefal ActiFry Original Plus that are worth noting:

Size: Launched in 2014, the Tefal ActiFry Original Plus is effectively a Tefal ActiFry Original with a bigger capacity  - 1.2kg versus 1kg. While the Original will allow you to make up to four portions, the Original Plus will take it up to five. For a family of six however, you may want to cast your eyes on the ActiFry Original Family, which has a 1.5kg capacity and a larger steam-free viewing window.

Design: It’s space saving 43 x 31 x 24 cm body is discreet enough for tight worktop spaces and it comes with dishwasher safe parts including the lid, bowl and stirring paddle, for easy cleaning.

Clever features: The ActiFry Original Plus includes a patented hot air pulse system and stirring paddle to ensure your food is crisped well on all sides, with no pre-heating, stirring or mixing by hand required. It features a timer to let you know when your meal is ready, while a large steam-free transparent lid makes it easy to see how your food is doing without you having to open the lid and disturb the process.

Tefal ActiFry Original Plus: the final word

If you want to have a go at cooking traditionally fried foods such as soy and sesame salmon or chicken Tikka Masala without the added oil, this device could just provide the healthy alternative you desire. At sale prices, the Tefal ActiFry Original Plus shouldn't be missed.

Should I buy an Instant Pot Duo Nova?

Posted: 30 Nov 2019 08:12 AM PST

An all-in-one electric pressure and multi-cooker is a clever piece of kit designed to take the fuss out of cooking, while saving you time in the kitchen. It’s likely we’ll be seeing these compact cooking gadgets crop up in the Black Friday sales, so we thought we’d take a closer look at one of the best Instant Pot models out there.

Designed to make it easy for you to whip up gourmet meals at the touch of a button, the Instant Pot Duo Nova $87.95 / £68 / AU$129.71 is a versatile piece of kit that performs a number of tasks within its compact body. It will help you prepare a delicious home-cooked meal in a third of the time it would take the conventional way and is ideal for those who have busy schedules, or for those who, quite simply, just can’t be bothered to cook.

The Instant Pot Duo Nova was released in August as an updated version of the Instant Pot Duo. We have reviewed the Instant Pot Duo V2 in depth here on TechRadar and gave it the thumbs up for its large capacity and batch cooking abilities. To give you a heads up on the Instant Pot Duo Nova however, we’re having a closer look at its tech specs here.

The Bottom Line: Want to be able to enjoy tasty meals quickly and without having to toil away over a hot stove? Then the Instant Pot Duo Nova multi-functional cooker provides a clever solution with minimum fuss so you can ‘set it and forget it’.

Pros: Useful for preparing evening meals and breakfasts alike, you can use the Instant Pot as an automatic pressure cooker as well as a slow cooker, a rice maker, a steamer, a place to sauté and reheat foods and more. The Instant Pot Duo Nova has been designed with a sleek steel body and comes in four sizes to suit the number of people you want to cook for. Its largest ‘10-quart’ capacity model is big enough to feed a huge gang of friends, but still small enough in overall size to store with relative ease.

Cons: As the number-one selling electric multi-cooker in the US, Instant Pot is a brand that stands out in this area for its intuitive design and versatile offering. If you type multi-cooker into Google however, you’ll find a host of well-respected brands who are also adding stylish pressure and multi-cookers to their collections.

While they may not be as well known as Instant Pot, their designs do come with similarly enticing, time-saving cooking options and inspiration - all at competitive prices. Look out for designs from the likes of Sage, Ninja, Cusinart and Tefal, whose multi-cooker designs we think shouldn’t be brushed off without careful consideration.

Instant Pot Duo Nova: Everything you need to know

The Instant Pot Duo Nova has a range of fast and flexible cooking settings that let you boil, simmer, bake, roast, slow cook and more, with all the action taking place in one pot and with one touch of a button. It’s a simple matter of setting the timer and letting the multi-cooker work its magic. The Instant Pot Duo Nova has a comprehensive tech spec, which we’ve highlighted here:

Easy seal lid: The Instant Pot Duo Nova’s updated features include an easy seal lid. This means that the lid will automatically set to seal when you close it - which can sometimes be tricky to remember – and it will release steam conveniently with a press of the quick-release button.

Size: It comes in four sizesa 3 quart that’s good for rice and smaller side dishes and meals for up to two people, a 6 quart that will feed up to six people and an 8 quart, ideal for cooking large batches. Finally, there's a 10-quart model that is enough for a full-on cooking event.

Cooking programmes: While like the Duo it give you 7 appliances in 1, the display on the Instant Pot Duo Nova has been given a fresh new look with easy to read icons. This means it’s easier to access the 10 safety features and timed programs for foods such as broth, soup, chilli, poultry and porridge. The bright LED display will also keep you informed of what’s going on inside and tell you how much cooking time is left. As well as being able to pressure cook, you can slow cook and sauté and make use of the handy ‘keep warm’ feature should you wish.

Instant Pot Duo Nova: the final word

If you’re keen to give multi-cooking a go and want to take comfort in the knowledge that you’re choosing a popular and well-known brand, the Instant Pot Duo Nova is worth considering. As well as saving time and effort in the kitchen, with its range of inspirational recipe ideas it will make your weekly meal planning a breeze.

Apple Watch 3 hits an even lower record UK price for Black Friday

Posted: 30 Nov 2019 07:04 AM PST

One of the best smartwatch deals we've seen this Black Friday is Argos' £189 offer on the Apple Watch 3 – well, John Lewis has not only price-matched that deal, but undercut it even further with a £184 offer on the 38mm Silver version with a white Sport Band. Not in the UK? Scroll down for the best Apple Watch 3 deals near you.

That's the lowest price we've seen for the Apple Watch 3, which remains one of the finest smartwatches you can buy. If you own an iPhone and are looking for sports watch with added benefits, then it's well worth snapping one up at that price.

It has a bright, vivid OLED screen, plus some fantastic fitness features that could be very motivational if you're already planning a New Year exercise regime.

The Watch 3 also runs the latest WatchOS software and has a heart-rate monitor, which not only records your beats per minute but also your daily resting heart rate to give you a picture of overall health and fitness.

The Apple Watch 3 is also an big improvement from its predecessor in a few other areas, including battery life and the combination of its GPS and water-resistance, which make it ideal for swim-tracking.

We'd also recommend this non-LTE version of the Apple Watch, as the LTE version doesn't add enough advantages to really justify its price tag. For more details, check out our full review.

Just bought a Nintendo Switch in the Black Friday sales? Then you'll want these microSD deals

Posted: 30 Nov 2019 06:28 AM PST

Amazon is discounting 30% or more off Samsung storage over the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend, and Nintendo Switch owners might want to check it out.

Among the savings on internal and external SSDs, a couple of variants of the Samsung EVO Select microSDXC cards are available (not in the UK? Check out Black Friday savings on Samsung memory cards where you are below).

We've not tested this particular card with the Nintendo Switch, but it adheres to Nintendo's own site's compatibility requirements. That is, it's a microSDXC card of over 64GB capacity that's UHS-I compatible.

If you're a PC owner, too, Samsung's 970 Plus NVMe 1TB drive is its best ever price on Amazon. Check out the deals below:

Increasing your storage capacity on Nintendo Switch is critical. Every week, new digital sales bring the prices of indie games (and sometimes, Nintendo's own games) crashing down, and the internal storage fills up very quickly. How are you ever going to fill that thing with Resident Evil games if you don't upgrade?

If you don't live in the UK, no worries. Here's a quick price comparison chart on the Samsung Evo Select where you are.

Diablo 4 is official - everything you need to know

Posted: 30 Nov 2019 05:54 AM PST

It’s been over seven years since the initial release of Diablo 3, so obviously we're champing at the bit to start another monstrous loot hunt in Diablo 4.

After months of rumors, the title has been officially confirmed by Blizzard at Blizzcon 2019 - and we now know that Diablo 4 is an isometric action RPG which sees the return of Lilith, the daughter of Mephisto.

It will feature an open world map with five regions, day/night cycles and a non-linear campaign. You'll smash and loot your way through this world with one of five customizable classes, three of which are already announced.

Finally, it's being designed in a brand-new engine for PS4, Xbox One and PC, with plans to simultaneously release it on all platforms.

Want to know more? Here’s everything to know so far about the long-awaited Diablo 4.

[UPDATE: Diablo 4's developers have big ambitions for its future. Read on to find out more.]

Cut to the chase

  • What is it? The next instalation in the veteran action-role playing dungeon crawling series, Diablo.
  • When can I play it? We're not entirely sure, but 'not soon' is what Blizzard says.
  • What can I play it on? Xbox One, PS4 and P.

Diablo 4 trailers

Post BlizzCon 2019, GameInformer brought us plenty of gameplay from Diablo 4 to pore over. Familiar in the best possible way, this footage showcases Diablo 4's return to an intensely Gothic game world and that addictive gameplay loop that's made it so famous.

Given the game's release is some time away (years, in fact) it's possible that everything in this footage could change. But it's exciting to get a glimpse of the direction in which the game's development is going.

Below you can watch videos of the the game's three classes in action: Barbarian, Sorceress and then Druid. All in all it's about an hour of gameplay which is quite something. Given the game is still a while off yet, maybe ration it.

Diablo 4 was officially announced at Blizzcon 2019 where we got the chance to see both the announcement story cinematic, and the first gameplay trailer.

Check both trailers out below:

Diablo 4 release date

Bad news here: Diablo 4 probably won't be released anytime soon. At a Blizzcon deep dive on the game, the game's director said that he doesn't expect the game to be finished anytime soon, "even by Blizzard's standards of soon."

That said, the fact that the team is developing the game for PS4 and Xbox One heavily implies that the game will be released within the next two to three years - as the lifespan of those consoles will be coming to an abrupt end after the launch of new consoles in late 2020.

Diablo 4 news, previous leaks and features

Big ambitions

In an interview with AusGamers Diablo 4's Game Director Luis Barriga and Art Director John Mueller have given an insight into the big ambitions the team has for Diablo 4 and its expansions.

We already know that Lilith will be the main villain for the game, rather than Diablo, but Mueller has suggested that there will eventually more to tell than this, with more characters and stories that could be told in expansions: “Diablo IV is like the first chapter of a book. We want to tell a big story and we want to tell it, hopefully, for a very long time. Treating this like the first chapter of a book and Lilith as a key character in this story, it feels great knowing that there are still all these other characters that could come back in the future. Or, new characters that we haven’t seen before.”

The pair also touch on just how big the world of Sanctuary is going to be:

“There’s going to be five contiguous regions in the world and you can actually go from the North, the Northern most point of Scosglen, which is the area seen in the demo, all the way down through the Dry Steppes and into the deserts of Kejhistan. And you'll never see a loading screen. It's completely seamless. That's the level of detail we've added into creating the world.”

Quarterly updates

In a blog post post-BlizzCon, Diablo 4's game director Luis Barriba has said that fans can expect a "cool update" on the game's progress come February 2020. This update will be the "first in a series of quarterly updates" which will come across the year.

Baribba also addresses the discussions that have been happening around how Diablo 4 will approach items and stats in the community with a promise that it's being carefully considered and clarifications are coming.

"We also know that one topic is burning hotter than the rest. We want you to know that we are having the same conversations about items and stats that you are having—whether on the official discussion threads or external sites, we read it all! Getting this right is at the top of our minds, and in the coming weeks our lead systems designer David Kim will provide a few clarifications, share some of his thoughts, and address some of your open questions."

During a conversation at BlizzCon 2019, Twitch streamer Quin69 (via PCGamesN) had a conversation with Diablo 4's lead designer Joe Shely during which it was said that the game will likely have microtransactions but that they'll be cosmetic in nature (so no selling Power) and that there'll also be expansions on top of the base game:

“Diablo IV will be available as a base game, and […] we’re going to have expansions. You also will be able to acquire cosmetics in the game.”

Shely added that it's still early days for the game so naturally things could change as development progresses.

Blizzcon 2019 unveiling
Diablo 4 was officially confirmed at Blizzcon 2019 on November 1, where it was revealed the game would focus on Lilith - the daughter of Mephisto.

Like its predecessors, the game is an isometric, action RPG and will have PVP zones in the overworld - with the first three classes being barbarian, sorceress and druid. It's also being developed for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Story and setting
For those who haven't been following along in the in-game events, Diablo 4 will be set after Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls. At this point, the gates of heaven have been closed after Malthael, the Angel of Death, destroyed much of Sanctuary.

It's through Heaven's ignorance of the events transpiring in Sanctuary that Lilith, the daughter of Mephisto and canonical mother of humanity, is set lose from her prison.

What we know about the overworld right now is that it's all open, with five unique regions and both a day/night cycle and ever-changing weather. Missions are non-linear and according to the game's director, you're free to take them on however you'd like.

Always online
Other players will appear in your game for shared events, meaning you will have to always be online to play. This isn't an feature you can turn off but you can choose not to group up with others. We don't know the exact details about how this will work.

Skill changes and talent trees
According to Eurogamer, the rune system is gone, instead replaced by a system that sees you spending points on skills to improve them - with some gainer new effects at higher levels.

In addition, each class has a talent tree that allows players to customize their build. You can also enhance equipment and weapons through a new Rune Word socketing system.

Dungeons and loot
Like previous entries, you're going to spend a lot of time in dungeons - all of which will be randomly generated in a similar way to Diablo 3. According to the game's director, there will be 'hundreds of dungeons' in the game to explore 'in which you'll find hundreds of legendary items to equip'.

Abilities
Each class has five abilities including Evade and an Ultimate attack.

Which classes are available?
At launch, Diablo 4 will feature five classes - three of which we already know about. The Barbarian, a series staple will return in Diablo 4 and will be available to wield both double- and single-handed weapons in a single build, and will have four weapon slots.

The Sorceress, another returning favorite, will have AOE attacks that control the battlefield and will be able to turn into a ball of energy to incinerate enemies, while the Druid has both animal companion NPCs and the ability to shapeshift.

Diablo 4

The Art of Diablo may have revealed Diablo 4 - confirmed
German magazine Game Star found a listing for a glossy new book called The Art of Diablo. Taking a behind-the-scenes look at the art of the franchise, it's set to contain “more than 500 artworks from Diablo 1, Diablo 2, Diablo 3 and Diablo 4.” Yep, Diablo 4, being mentioned in relation to a book officially associated with the developer Blizzard. Though the book is a little way off from release yet, the mention (likely unintentional) all but confirmed that Diablo 4 was on the way.

New hires - confirmed
Tongues started wagging after nine job listings for an "unannounced project" in the Diablo franchise were spotted on the Blizzard Entertainment careers page. The company was looking for key roles, including lead character and concept artists, software engineers, a lead narrative designer and an executive producer.

While it's not certain that the listings were for Diablo 4, the game has since been announced.

More development focus
Reports have stated that Blizzard is no longer working on a StarCraft shooter and has decided to shift development focus over to Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2. This is good news for those waiting with bated breath for Diablo 4 updates as it shows Blizzard is entirely focused on the game. With a larger team behind it could we see more updates soon? Given Blizzard didn't attend Gamescom 2019, it could still be some time.

Blizzard wasn't at Gamescom 2019
We knew Blizzard wouldn't be attending Gamescom 2019 as, in a news post from Blizzard Entertainment, the developer confirmed that it wouldn't be attending. But why?

"As part of a renewed effort this year to maintain our focus on development, for our current games and our future projects, we won’t have a booth at Gamescom 2019," the post reads. "The show is an important one for the European and global gaming community, and we’re going to miss meeting players in Cologne this year.

"We’re also looking forward to sharing more details about the projects we’re currently working on when the time is right."

Diablo Hades and / or Diablo Fenris

Game development is often iterative. Diablo 3 was in the works for many years and prototyped in many different ways before becoming the game we know today – and even then, it’s changed dramatically since its (somewhat shaky) initial launch.

Diablo 4 will likely be no different, and an incredibly interesting report from Kotaku back in 2018 pointed to multiple iterations of Diablo being in the works at Blizzard – one that has now ceased experimentation and has been shelved, the other what is reportedly now the foundation of Diablo 4.

Note that these rumors come from sources we’ve not been able to independently verify, but, working alongside the Kotaku UK team and being able to vouch for their integrity, we’d say there’s legitimate information here that could point to the direction that Diablo 4 is headed towards.

Diablo 4

Diablo 3, modified to play from an 'over-the-shoulder' perspective. (Image Credit: Mr Monstrosity / Diablo Fans)

Hades (or ‘Diablo as Dark Souls’

The first of these projects was codenamed ‘Hades’. Sources speaking to Kotaku described a game not dissimilar in approach to Dark Souls – an over the shoulder, hardcore dungeon crawler. Work on Hades spanned 2014-2016 reportedly, and included top Blizzard talent including Diablo 3 director Josh Mosquiera. Given the popularity of Dark Souls, broadly similar RPG mechanics and the shared gothic aesthetic of the two, this would have been an interesting and fresh direction for the series to take. However, sources state that the game just wasn’t gelling, with the team eventually going on to make the excellent Rise of the Necromancer DLC for Diablo 3.

Fenris (a return to Diablo 2’s darkness)

The second (and reportedly ongoing) effort to make Diablo 4 was codenamed ‘Fenris’, and was worked on by the same team that canned Hades. It would be a more traditional isometric Diablo title, and would see the caricature, colorful aesthetic of Diablo 3 ditched in favor of a darker, grimier, more horrifying look that bring the creepy dread of the first two Diablo games up to date.

"There’s a lot of people who felt like Diablo 3 got away from what made Diablo Diablo in terms of art style and spell effects," one unnamed Blizzard employee told Kotaku. "They want to make [Fenris] gross, make it dark, [get rid of] anything that was considered cartoony in Diablo 3… Make what people were afraid of in Diablo 2, but modern."

Fenris is also discussed in highly social terms, taking cues from the likes of World of Warcraft and Destiny. While it wouldn’t be an MMO, it could well be a ‘live game’, with social areas that players can meet in before heading out into instanced dungeon raids.

Could it be that the Diablo franchise is about to experience a schism? One that sees the more approachable stylings of the Diablo 3 era be carried as the mobile Diablo Immortal experience, freely monetizable away from the ire of the hardcore Diablo fan, while Diablo 4 goes back to the horror-infused roots of the earlier games in the series, as being worked on with the Fenris project? It’s a reasonable idea.

Whatever happens, we’ll have all the most up to date information on Diablo 4 here. So keep checking back as we delve deeper into the growing darkness at the heart of Sanctuary.

The world's greatest VPN provider is offering a Black Friday deal worth seeing

Posted: 30 Nov 2019 05:24 AM PST

You can't utter or think the word VPN without ExpressVPN popping up - the VPN provider is everywhere and why shouldn't it be, it is the world's best VPN after all.

Well, at least according to our expert testing which concludes that ExpressVPN not only provides super fast connections and has a very high level of encryption (your cybersecurity sorted). Along with the fact that it is ridiculously easy to use and functions with a whole host of different mobile devices and TV streaming boxes.

And for this year, Express has gotten into the Black Friday spirit by announcing a seasonal promotion. Go for its 12-month subscription and you'll get 49% off the normal price and an extra 3 months free as well.

There's no doubt that it's an excellent deal on a brilliant bit of software. But here's our plot twist to this story... TechRadar has access to this rate all year around! Not just on Black Friday. So if you fancy ExpressVPN over all the other VPN deals you're inevitably seeing at the moment, then don't feel like you need to hurry.

ExpressVPN's exceptional Black Friday VPN deal:

What you can do with a VPN

VPNs  - or Virtual Private Networks - have grown in popularity massively in the last few years, largely thanks to their encrypted tunnels and zero logs policies that make them a great tool for using the web more safely.

But it's their versatility that makes them so attractive and perhaps an even better choice than traditional antivirus. Because they allow you to spoof the IP address of your laptop or phone (or even your router) it means you can bypass blocked websites and geo-restricted TV and sports coverage, too. And lots of people also use them to watch their country's Netflix or Disney Plus catalogue while abroad.

TechRadar is scouring every retailer and rounding up all the top deals over the Black Friday period, and we’ve put all the best Black Friday deals and Cyber Monday deals in easy-to-navigate articles to help you find the bargains you’re looking for.

Hurry! This brilliant half price Samsung Galaxy S10e deal from Argos is back for Black Friday

Posted: 30 Nov 2019 04:25 AM PST

Update 30/11/19: As expected, this deal for both the Canary Yellow and Prism Green version has now sold out at Argos. While the product page is still live on the site, it's not available for delivery or collection, so it looks like this deal is now over. We'll update this page if that changes, but if you're still looking for a Samsung Galaxy S10e deal, check out the live ones in your region further down the page.

One of the best Black Friday deals we've seen this year has been the half-price, Canary Yellow version of the Samsung Galaxy S10e from Argos. Naturally, it sold out very quickly, but we have good news – it's back! So if you're looking for a bargain Android phone, it's time to snap one up quickly.

The Galaxy S10e isn't a bargain basement phone by any means – it's one of Samsung's finest handsets, taking many of the highlights of the Galaxy S10 and putting them in a more affordable phone. At just £334.50 for the Canary Yellow, it offers fantastic value – so much so, that this deal sold out rapidly when it was live before.

If that model's a little too bright for your tastes, the Prism Green version is also available for a similarly impressive £399. This price still undercuts many of the refurbished versions of the phone, and saw the deal also sell out quickly when it went live previously.

The lowest price around on the Samsung Galaxy S10e:

Not a fan of the green Samsung Galaxy S10e?

While these discounts are incredible, Argos is only dropping prices on the two more colourful versions of the handset. If you would prefer to grab something in white or Black, Argos won't be the way to go.

However, a recent sale from Amazon can secure you the handset at just £499 and will even throw in a free speaker for good measure!

What's so good about the Samsung Galaxy S10e?

Yes, it isn't quite as powerful as its brothers the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus but, it more than makes up for that with its impressively affordable pricing.

Whether its due to its bright, 5.8-inch AMOLED display, the internal 3100mAh battery or the dual camera set-up, this feels like a phone pushing past its price tag with ease. It even offers up an IP68 rating and more than enough processing power to get you through most tasks.

NordVPN has got one of the very best Black Friday VPN deals of 2019

Posted: 30 Nov 2019 03:40 AM PST

Thanksgiving 2019 may have come to an end but NordVPN just doesn't stop giving - and this year we are thankful for its latest discount. The provider has absolutely dominated the Black Friday VPN competition with one of the best VPN deals out there.

The provider's Black Friday VPN deal is now a terrific triple threat. So now Nord is not only offering an 83% discount, three months free and a free NordLocker file encryption app - which usually has an RRP of $312, on its 36-months plan.

This deal means that your next three years of VPN needs are all sorted for the equivalent of $2.82 (£2.20/AU$4.16) a month.

Click here to get a fantastic 83% discount on NordVPN

A truly incredible discount from NordVPN - which boasts fast speeds, an easy-to-use user interface and high quality. Of course for a deal this good there has to be a slight catch, and for this it's that you'll have to pay the total cost of the three years upfront.

Don't want to go with NordVPN? IPVanish's sale saves you 73% on cybersecurity and you only have to commit to one year.

  • Not sure if Nord is the VPN for you? Check out our best VPN guide.

Divider

Read more about this major VPN deal:

Is NordVPN any good?

Absolutely! NordVPN's ability to unblock Netflix and BBC iPlayer not only make it ideal for streamers but it also lets you keep your privacy with its zero-logging policy. Not to mention, in a world of expensive VPN providers, NordVPN is fairly cheap - especially now with its Black Friday deal.

It also boasts a very speedy customer support so all you queries can be instantly resolved, an effective kill switch (ideal for anyone concerned with security) and up to six simultaneous connections which is perfect for anyone trying to save (you only have to set up one account).

But it is worth noting that in October NordVPN revealed that it suffered a hack which breached its cybersecurity credentials. Gladly, it has taken significant steps to correct this, which is why we're still confident to recommend its service. Scroll down the page if you want to know more about this.

Still want to know more? Our in-depth NordVPN review goes into every nook and cranny.

What is the NordVPN breach?

As of October 2019, NordVPN announced that the provider had suffered a hack which breached it's security. This hack dates back to 2018, and rather shook the sector when it came to the surface. When it was unveiled, NordVPN announced it was taking clear steps to tighten things up, including working with cybersecurity consulting firm VerSprite and completing a full-scale third-party independent security audit next year.

If you want further information on this hack, make sure you check out our NordVPN data breach news story. And if cybersecurity is your main reason for getting a VPN, why not read our most secure VPN provider guide.

Red Dead Redemption 2 PC players get free stuff to make up for all the bugs

Posted: 30 Nov 2019 03:21 AM PST

You may recall that when Rockstar tweeted its apology for the various issues that have plagued the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 – including the dreaded stuttering – a complimentary care package was promised to anyone who had played from launch “through to the holiday season”.

Well, that bonus bundle of free stuff for Red Dead Online is now available to PC gamers, as Rockstar made clear in a blog post, while also announcing that it believes “the vast majority of performance issues for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC have now been resolved”. And that any remaining lingering issues will be tackled going forward.

So what exactly do you get? Rockstar notes that players will receive the Prieto Poncho, along with the aforementioned care package to help you better survive in the online mode, which consists of the following:

  • 100 x Revolver Express Ammo
  • 100 x Pistol Express Ammo
  • 100 x Repeater Express Ammo
  • 100 x Rifle Express Ammo
  • 100 x Shotgun Slugs
  • 20 x Shotgun Incendiary Buckshot Slugs
  • 20 x Fire Arrows
  • 20 x Poison Throwing Knives
  • 20 x Volatile Fire Bottles
  • 10 x Potent Miracle Tonic – fully restores Health, Stamina and Dead Eye and Fortifies moderately
  • 3 x Horse Reviver – revives Horse from severe injury and moderately restores its Health
  • 10 x Minty Big Game – fully restores all Cores and yields a Gold Health Core
  • 20 x Baked Beans – moderately restores Health Core and Stamina Core

Loot in your Lock Box

Those who are already playing Red Dead Online and have an existing character should have the care package now, and will just need to pick it up from their Camp Lock Box or any post office.

Folks new to Red Dead Online will get the package within 24 hours of creating a character.

A couple more gifts are also in the pipeline for all denizens of Red Dead Online, namely a variant of the Marino Bandolier, along with a new off-hand holster and an additional care package. This little lot will arrive with the next major update for RDO.

Earlier this week, we found out the date upon which Red Dead Redemption 2 will land on Steam, and that’s happening very shortly – on December 5 to be precise, which is exactly a month on from the initial release of the game on PC.

Apple : Google Pixel 3a went lower than its lowest ever price in blockbuster Black Friday deal

Apple : Google Pixel 3a went lower than its lowest ever price in blockbuster Black Friday deal

Google Pixel 3a went lower than its lowest ever price in blockbuster Black Friday deal

Posted: 29 Nov 2019 01:55 PM PST

One of the most commonly-discounted Black Friday phones is the Google Pixel 3a, with many different retailers slashing the price of mid-2019's headline-stealing affordable phone. But, a fantastic Best Buy Black Friday doorbuster just brought the cost down to an unexpectedly low level.

Now you can pick up the Google Pixel 3a for a measly $250 (if you're not in the US, there are plenty of Black Friday phone deals for you too, scroll down to find them). That's a tiny price for a phone that cost $399 until a week or so ago.

Google and Amazon haven't bested this Pixel 3a low price over Black Friday, selling the phone for $299 and $329 respectively, so if you want this great compact device with a fantastic camera and long battery life, Best Buy is the place to buy.

Not in the US? Here are the best Google Pixel 3a prices in your area.

The best Black Friday deals 2019

Posted: 29 Nov 2019 01:45 PM PST

We're approaching the tail end of the Black Friday deals, but that doesn't mean there aren't loads of deals to still be had - and there are many, many of them out there.

But before we tell you what's been happening, let's get the relevant issue into your eyeballs - here are our best Black deals and sales for 2019 (so far - we're still keeping up the hunt):

Our best current deals at a glance

Right, so that's what you can buy right now - but what about the rest of Black Friday as a whole before we get to the Cyber Monday deals? There are many different kinds of deals still around, from laptops to phones to AirPods (although the latter is heading quickly out of stock).

We've sadly had little in the way of a cracking Nintendo Switch Black Friday deal, and even the PS4 deals - while they have existed, and haven't been too bad - were more scarce than we expected.

It's basically been Apple products that have been the winners - with $400 cashback on an iPhone 11, lower prices on AirPods and Apple Watches and Macbook / iPads being cheaper than ever before, it's been (and still is) the time to grab yourself a bargain.

There's more in there too - Dyson has been popular for Black Friday 2019, DNA kits have been a surprise package and we've even seen great discount on power tools as well.

Anyway, enough of telling you what you're getting, and onto the deals themselves - and if you want something more than what we've scavenged from the depths of the web, here are all the top Black Friday sales from around the web first:

The best Xbox One X prices, bundles and deals for Black Friday 2019: where to buy the 4K Xbox

Posted: 29 Nov 2019 01:38 PM PST

You'll want to take a look at these Black Friday Xbox One X prices. Retailers have slashed the cost of a brand new Xbox One X and bundled some amazing games in with the offer. These Xbox One X deals are some of the best we've seen all year, so there's no reason not to jump now if you've been holding out on Microsoft's biggest and best console.

Gamers looking for the most powerful console ever made have have been keen to pick up Xbox One X deals since release but there was a high cost to pay in the early days. Until recently, prices have been high at most stores if you weren't sure where to look. That's where we come in as our dedicated team of Deal Hunters cut through the chaff to bring you only the very best Xbox One X deals every day, and we've got some excellent ones for you today.

In this article you'll find a comparison chart with the lowest prices on where to buy the 4K HDR Xbox One X console from a wide range of the best retailers. After the comparison chart we've put together a collection of the latest bundles in the USA and UK. These Xbox One X bundles will save you money over buying the items separately.

If you're after information on the latest Australian deals, head over to our Australian page.

The best Black Friday Xbox One X deals and prices

The Xbox One X deals below represent the Black Friday deals available right now - this week is a fantastic opportunity to find massive deals on Xbox consoles, from bundles to the 4K Xbox One X. Lucky for you, we've created a Black Friday 2019 deals guide so you can find all the top sales in one place.

The best Xbox One X prices

US Xbox One X bundles are really stepping things up now after seriously slow start at launch. There's never been a better time to buy actually as you're getting genuine discounts and free content for the first time in ages.

If you're after more games for your Xbox One X, then why not check out our Xbox Game Pass deals page. There's also plenty of savings to be had on online play as well with our top picks of the best Xbox Live Gold sales

What is the Xbox One X price?

The Xbox One X MSRP is $499 in the US and the UK RRP currently sits at £449. So sure, it looks like UK gamers are paying considerable more as the direct currency conversion would have it at £390. On the plus side, retailers are starting to cut prices and we're seeing games bundled in too. So you should never pay those costs for the console alone today.

Why should I buy an Xbox One X?

Just to be clear, this is not what you'd call a 'next-gen' console. Instead it's a more powerful version over the current Xbox One lineup. To simplify things, it's akin to Sony's PS4 Pro. Both consoles are aimed at gamers with a 4K HDR TV who want the best graphical performance possible on their favored console. There will be modest performance boosts on non-4K TVs too, but you're kind of missing the point without a 4K HDR TV.

The Xbox One X will play all Xbox One games and there are no games released exclusively for the Xbox One X, so there's certainly no reason to throw away your older Xbox One.

The Xbox One X is the most powerful console ever made though, even outshining some of the specs of the PS4 Pro. But given the huge asking price, you'd hope as much. The Xbox One X is making bold claims about true native 4K gaming though and if you have a 4K TV with High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology, the Xbox One X is ready to seriously impress with the likes of Forza Motorsport 7, Metro: Exodus and Anthem acting as true jaw-droppers in the graphics department.

Where can I buy an Xbox One X?

Most of the usual big name retailers are stocking the Xbox One X. Prices are much better than they were at launch now too.

Keep an eye on the highlighted Xbox One X bundles above and our comparison chart, which we'll keep up to date on the latest prices for the Xbox One X on its own. So feel free to bookmark us and check in again soon to see if we've found the deal that's right for you.

What is the Xbox One X release date?

It's here now! The Xbox One X came out on November 7 2017. That was a worldwide release date too.

What if I don't care about 4K or want to save money?

The standard Xbox One S is a fantastic games console and you'll easily be able to get one with a few games for around $220/£200 or less. There are cheap deals all year round on our Xbox One deals and PS4 prices, deals and bundles pages.

Only kidding. I want 4K HDR in my face right now.

4K TVs with HDR are nowhere near as expensive as you'd think. The prices have come down much faster than the original HD TVs, so you can get a decent model for a low price. Hell we've seen some nice ones for less than the price of the Xbox One X itself (what a ridiculous world we live in). For the best of the best, take a look at our best TV article. We've also rounded up the best cheap 4K TV deals too in the UK, and also a collection of US TV deals.

How big is the hard drive in the Xbox One X?

For now, the only option available is the 1TB option, that's 1000GB of storage. There are no official plans for larger versions..

With some 4K-friendly update patches to games coming in at over 100GB, we certainly wouldn't hold out for a cheaper 500GB Xbox One X, as it'd be a bit pointless to be honest.

We think gamers are going to fill up the 1TB Xbox One pretty soon. Thankfully the Xbox One X is compatible with external hard drives using USB 3.0. So if you need some extra storage, check out our list of the best external hard drives.

cheap laptop deals prices sales

On release, the Chromebook Flip reached new heights for the Windows-free laptops as it came rocking a proper Intel Core processor along with a HD screen. Most models nowadays come with 64GB of storage instead of the 32GB which is plenty for running apps and storing regular documents and a fair few media files - you can always use a USB drive for more space. For most users, the newer PixelBook is what we'd call 'overkill', not to mention considerably more expensive, so we'd recommend this model if you just need something for work, browsing the net and so on. The Chrome OS works beautifully in this 2-in-1 laptop's tablet mode too.

HP Pavilion 15

A sturdy choice for a study laptop for school/college/uni. The HP Pavilion 15 has plenty of power for the average student's needs while keeping the costs sensible. There are plenty of configurations available too. Some favour speedy SSDs, while others go for larger regular hard drives, so it all depends on what you're going to need more really. Faster loading or more space for storing media files and downloads.

Asus Transformer Mini T102HA

The Asus Transformer Mini series is one of the most reliable brands of 2-in-1 tablet/laptop hybrids on the market. This upgrade includes a fingerprint sensor and double the RAM at 4GB for speedier performance compared to the older models. For your money, this is one of the most impressive two-in-one transformer models out there. Available in orange/white as seen above, or in a traditional grey steel colour.

Best Fitbit 2019: which is right for you?

Posted: 29 Nov 2019 01:30 PM PST

If you're in the market for the best Fitbit for any budget or purpose, you're in the right place. And opting for a Fitbit tracker at all is a good choice, as the company has been around for many years and in that time it has released numerous high quality trackers at a range of prices, from basic step trackers to full smartwatches.

While Fitbit now faces stiff competition from the likes of the Apple Watch, it’s still going strong, and its future looks bright having now been bought by Google’s parent company Alphabet. Although it’s uncertain exactly what this will mean for Fitbit going forward, having the might of Google behind it is likely to be a good thing.

Recent models include the Fitbit Versa 2 smartwatch along with the Fitbit Inspire and Fitbit Inspire HR trackers. But there are all sorts of other models available too either direct from Fitbit or from third-party retailers, such as the Fitbit Charge 3, Fitbit Ionic, Fitbit Versa Lite, and the much older Fitbit Flex 2.

To help you pick through them and choose the right model for you, we’ve curated this list. It highlights the very best Fitbit wearables at all price points, showing you their specs, key features and main good and bad points at a glance. You shouldn’t go wrong with any of these, though note that they are ordered from best to worst.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2019 are here, and it's seeing lots of discounts on Fitbit products and the best fitness trackers in general.

Below you'll find our full ranking of the best Fitbit activity trackers that you can buy right now. We've taken design, features, fitness prowess, price and many other elements into account when making this list.

The best Fitbit for fitness tracking is the Charge 3, which has a much larger screen compared to the last few versions of the Charge series.

It's one of the best fitness trackers you can use right now and comes with fitness features such as a heart rate tracker, guided breathing, swim tracking and improved notifications.

If you opt for the Fitbit Charge 3 Special Edition, you'll get Fitbit Pay compatibility as well. It connects with the GPS on your phone to keep track of your runs as well, but unfortunately can't keep tabs on your location without your phone. With that in mind, it might not be the best option for serious runners.

Everything is just a bit better on the Charge 3, and considering it's the same price at launch as the Charge 2 it'll likely be a suitable tracker for anyone looking for a Fitbit in 2019.

Read the full Fitbit Charge 3 review

What's next? Could we hear about the Fitbit Charge 4 soon? It's unlikely, so you're safe buying the Fitbit Charge 3 without worrying about it becoming obsolete.

The Fitbit Inspire HR is one of the latest Fitbits and it’s a superior alternative to the company’s other basic trackers.

It’s reasonably affordable yet comes with a lot of features including – obviously – heart rate tracking, as well as activity tracking, sleep monitoring, and guided breathing exercises. There’s also connected GPS, but no onboard GPS.

Other highlights of the Fitbit Inspire HR include great battery life of around five days in our tests, and a sleek, surprisingly premium design, making this one of the best-looking Fitbits you can buy. It’s also waterproof, though doesn’t come with any real swim-tracking skills.

Basically, if you don’t need to track your activity in the pool, don’t mind taking your phone with you on runs and don’t need something that’s more of a smartwatch, this is the best Fitbit option – and if you do need those other features you’ll have to pay more.

The Fitbit Versa 2 is the first smartwatch you've come across in this ranking of the best Fitbit devices, and it's arguably one of the most versatile devices that the company offers.

You can get notifications through to your wrist, use Amazon Alexa functionality and access a variety of third-party apps on your wrist through the Fitbit Versa 2.

That's all on top of the top fitness features like a heart rate tracker and exercise monitoring you'll get from a Fitbit product. There's no built-in GPS here though, so you'll have to take your phone on any runs you go on if you're after a device to track your location.

Read the full Fitbit Versa 2 review

Do you want a fitness tracker that is easy to use and uncomplicated? The Fitbit Flex 2 may be the best device for you.

You'll be able to use this while swimming as it's waterproof and it'll also keep an eye on how well your dips in the pool are going. On top of that it comes with all the other basic tracking features you'd expect plus a slim and light design too.

It's a touch cheaper than the Fitbit Charge 2 as well, so it may be the perfect Fitbit tracker for you.

If you're considering buying a Flex 2 for yourself, it has great fitness tracking on board and a super subtle design that's bound to appeal to almost everyone. The only thing it's seriously lacking is a screen, so for an upgrade consider a Versa instead.

Read the full Fitbit Flex 2 review

What's next? The Fitbit Inspire fits the slot where the Fitbit Flex 2 used to be, so don't expect to be able to buy a Fitbit Flex 3 anytime soon.

This is a remarkably similar product to the original Fitbit Versa below, but it has dropped a couple of features so the company can sell it for a lower price. That price isn't always that much cheaper, so we'd recommend checking deals on the original Fitbit Versa (and now the Fitbit Versa 2) before opting for the Fitbit Versa Lite.

You'll get connected GPS, a solid heart rate tracker and a variety of smartwatch features with the Fitbit Versa Lite. You need to know it won't be able to track swims, doesn't have storage for music and there's also no Fitbit Pay.

All of that said, this can be far cheaper than the company's other smartwatches so you may find that a good trade off when looking to buy a new Fitbit.

Read the full Fitbit Versa Lite review

If you're after a smartwatch from Fitbit, there's also this. The Fitbit Ionic isn't the fantastic smartwatch some hoped it would be but it succeeds if you're looking for a fitness-focused device that can tackle running, weight lifting, swimming and much, much more.

Dedicated workout programs and Fitbit Pay are among the other highlights of the Ionic, but it doesn't perform as well as say the Apple Watch 4 or Samsung Galaxy Watch if you're looking for a full blown smartwatch experience.

It's not cheap either and the Fitbit Ionic is also low in our list of the best Fitbit products because it's just very expensive for what it can offer you. However, if you're an outdoor runner the Ionic is your best bet. Not only is it durable, but it has built-in GPS, meaning you can leave your phone at home.

Read the full Fitbit Ionic review

What's next? We've put together a list of things we'd like to see if the company decides to announce a Fitbit Ionic 2.

Fitbit Inspire

The Fitbit Inspire is basically a cheaper alternative to the Fitbit Inspire HR for anyone who doesn’t need a heart rate monitor.

That somewhat limits its skills, but there’s still a lot to like here, including an attractive, petite design, activity tracking, sleep tracking and up to five days of life.

Sadly there’s no GPS here – not even the connected kind – so this is more for people who want a very basic activity tracker than a real workout companion, but it’s priced accordingly and what it does it does well.

Read the full Fitbit Inspire review

Packing a lot of the features we saw debut on the Ionic, the Fitbit Versa condensed them down to a smaller package with a lower price tag and if you want a slimmer watch on your wrist this may be better for you than the company's first watch.

The price is already lower thanks to the introduction of the Fitbit Versa 2, and while it doesn't feel as premium we enjoy the smaller design that sits closely to your wrist. It comes with Fitbit Pay, all of the apps on the Ionic, storage for music and much more.

If you're looking to use it for running the Versa is sorely missing GPS features so you'll have to take your phone with you to track where you're jogging, but it's still a great smartwatch from Fitbit.

Read the full Fitbit Versa review

The Fitbit Alta HR takes the slim, stylish Fitbit Alta and jams a heart rate monitor into its slender frame, without bulking it up.

Where the original Fitbit Alta feels a bit light on features, and puts form over function, the Alta HR is an admirable tracker which goes beyond basic step tracking, but still looks good.

It's still not the most feature-packed - there's no GPS for a start - but it strikes a good balance and is the sort of thing you'll be happy to wear 24/7 (other than when swimming - this isn't waterproof), which is handy, because it can also track your sleep, and the heart rate monitor helps there too.

With basic message / notification alerts pulled from your smartphone and an almost week long battery life too, it's well worth considering if you don't need the features - or don't want the bulk - of something like the Fitbit Ionic.

Read the full Fitbit Alta HR review

What's next? The Fitbit Inspire HR is essentially the Fitbit Alta 2 in all but name, so don't expect a new model soon if ever.

Until the launch of the Charge 3, the Charge 2 was our favorite Fitbit. It has a much larger screen compared to the original Fitbit Charge and the Charge HR, and it's packed with extra fitness features.

There's Multi-Sport tracking that allows you to keep a track of outdoor runs, walking, weight training and many more exercises.

It also connects with the GPS on your phone to keep track of your runs as well. You won't be able to use this in a pool though, if you want to go swimming with your tracker we'd recommend looking at the Fitbit Flex 2 above or the Fitbit Charge 3.

The best PS4 Pro prices, deals, and bundles in November 2019

Posted: 29 Nov 2019 12:56 PM PST

If you're shopping for PS4 Pro deals you'll want to find the best bundle for you. We can certainly help you out there, as we're always keeping tabs on the latest sales and discounts from the best retailers. And prices have really started to drop this week as we're super close to Black Friday. Actually, we're seeing some of the best ever deals.

The PS4 Pro is the perfect 4K upgrade to breath new life into your PS4 game collection. But even if you've never had a PS4 before, you might as well start off with the best. If you're already set with a 4K TV, you'll experience the best PS4 has to offer - even better if it has HDR too.

There are some fantastic-looking games out now to really make a PS4 Pro shine; Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Death Stranding, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and The Outer Worlds are all serious lookers and jaws are bound to drop further when The Last of Us Part 2 eventually sneaks onto our 4K TVs.

You'll find all of the latest and best PS4 Pro prices from the big name stores in our comparison chart below. There's not too much difference in price between retailers at this time of year, but we're constantly on the lookout for the latest deals and bundles. Looking to buy in Australia? You'll want to take a look at our AU page.

If you'd prefer a standard PS4, then check out our PS4 bundles (USA) or PS4 deals (UK) pages. Don't forget to top up your subscription with one of our discounted PlayStation Plus deals too.

So keep this page bookmarked to stay informed of the latest PS4 Pro bundles. If you're looking for more information on the PS4 Pro, take a look at our handy Q&A below the deals.

The best Black Friday PS4 Pro deals

While you can shop current offers below, it's never too early to start thinking about the upcoming sale event, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Looking to upgrade your system to a PS4 Pro? Or simply want to give the console a try with an irresistible discount and all your favourite games bundled in? We've put together a guide on how to find the best Black Friday deals so that you can find all the top sales in one place.

PS4 Pro bundle deals (USA)

Worthwhile PS4 Pro bundles have been scarce in the US for the last few months. The PS4 Pro on its own often goes out of stock and firmly sticks to the regular $399 price most of the time. Some stores have even jacked up the price beyond the MSRP. This long after release, we're not cool with that and you shouldn't be either. As a bare minimum, you want at least one game with the console for $399. We've dug out the best options for the 4K console on its own too.

PS4 Pro bundle deals (UK)

Need an extra controller on the cheap? Take a look at the best DualShock 4 deals. We also have a guide to the best PlayStation VR deals too.

Cheap PlayStation Plus deals

If you're buying a PS4 Pro, you'll probably need a cheap PlayStation Plus deal too. PlayStation Plus (aka PS Plus or PS+) allows you to play PS4 games online, along with access to the Instant Game Collection, a bunch of free games for your PS4 each month. The default price for a year is now £49.99. We've shopped around for you though and found a range of prices. So check out our guide of you want the best PlayStation Plus deals.

What is the PS4 Pro?

Essentially, the PS4 Pro is an upgrade of the PS4, rather than a 'next-gen' console. The keywords to take in from the PS4 Pro are 4K and HDR. The new machine will allow game developers to include 4K options in their games, so expect the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War, Uncharted 4, Spider-Man, Days Gone, Horizon: Zero Dawn and more to look even better on a 4K TV.

HDR, or High Dynamic Range, is the other buzzword to be excited about as the PS4 Pro will allow for extra detail to be seen on a range of games and also a wider range of colors not usually displayed by traditional HD TVs.

Will my old PS4 games work on PS4 Pro?

Absolutely. If you're planning on upgrading to a PS4 Pro from an older PS4, all of your games will still work. Not every title will be patched to take advantage of the new 4K/HDR capabilities, but the default upscaling (if you have a 4K TV) will more than likely see some improvement to the visuals and the improved console power may give the frame-rate a boost on some titles.

What else can I watch in 4K/HDR on PS4 Pro?

The PS4 Pro is compatible with 4K and HDR, and the content options for both are increasing all the time on services like YouTube and Netflix. Amazon Prime Video is yet to be updated for 4K content on a PS4 Pro though, so you'll need to check out the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K deals if you want to enjoy 4K Prime.

Does the PS4 Pro support 4K Blu-rays?

No. This was a surprise if we're honest, especially as both the Xbox One S and Xbox One X consoles do. It's a bit of a gamble for Sony, but at the same time, 4K Blu-rays are very expensive for now and many consumers look to digital services to provide their 4K movies and TV content instead.

Do I need a 4K TV to run a PS4 Pro?

No, the PS4 Pro will still work on a regular 1080p TV, you won't get the benefits of upscaling or HDR though. You may see a slim amount of extra detail, or frame-rate boost, but we wouldn't expect a massive leap.

If you are thinking of buying a 4K TV soon, then it's probably a good idea to splash out on the PS4 Pro instead of the regular or new PS4 Slim as it'll future proof you for a while. Be sure to look out for a TV that supports HDR too, in order to take full advantage of the PS4 Pro's capabilities.

Will PlayStation VR be better on the PS4 Pro?

Yes, but only a little. The PlayStation VR frame-rate is better on PS4 Pro and the resolution gets a bit of a bump too. PlayStation VR will certainly work on the older PS4s too, you don't need a PS4 Pro to get involved there.

Does the PS4 Pro have optical audio support?

Yes! The optical audio output has been removed from the PS4 Slim though, which is a massive shame. PS4 Pro owners though will still be able to use optical connections for their soundbars and sound systems.

What are the best games on PS4 Pro?

We've dived through our back catalogue of PS4 games that have received a PS4 Pro update patch to see which ones look the best and have a noticeable difference. Take a look at our extensive feature - The best PS4 Pro games.

Bad news everyone - the Acer Laptop deal has sold out. That went faster than expected...

Nearly half of workers have clicked on a phishing email

Posted: 29 Nov 2019 11:39 AM PST

New research from the business app and discovery platform GetApp has revealed that almost a quarter of businesses have fallen victim to a phishing attack.

The firm surveyed 714 people working in businesses across the US to discover that many organizations are not taking the proper measures to protect themselves from phishing attacks including employee training and the implementation of two-factor authentication.

Of those surveyed, only 64 percent said they currently use a two-factor authentication system to help protect their organization's data. This means that over one third of organizations are potentially leaving themselves exposed to phishing attacks.

Social engineering

Some phishing schemes, such as spear phishing, target specific members of staff within an organization and this is typically accomplished through social engineering.

GetApp's research found that nearly half (43%) of employees say that someone in their organization has clicked on a phishing email and this shows that there is a need for more training to help raise awareness about potential attacks.

The survey also found that only 27 percent of organizations provide social engineering awareness for their employees and that only three-in-ten businesses conduct regular phishing tests to gauge their employees' vulnerability and susceptibility to phishing scams.

Senior content analyst at GetApp, Zach Capers provided further insight on the firm's research into phishing scams, saying:

“Our survey shows that a surprisingly large number of businesses have been fooled by phishing scams. With technology advancing and tactics evolving, the need to remain vigilant against cyber attacks is more important than ever. The most worrying part of this is how many employees have clicked phishing emails compared to how few companies are actively working to train their employees to recognize them. Spear phishing is an effective and inconspicuous way of infiltrating a business. It’s vital that employees are taught to recognize it.”

AMD Ryzen 3rd generation processors get a huge Black Friday deal at Newegg

Posted: 29 Nov 2019 11:37 AM PST

It's no secret that AMD is experiencing a massive popularity boost right now, thanks to the fantastic performance of processors like the Ryzen 5 3600X. These CPUs already feature amazing performance for the money, but because it's Black Friday, the value only gets better. If you're not in the US, scroll down for some Ryzen deals in your neighborhood.

Right now at Newegg, you can save some cash on a range of different AMD Ryzen processors, from last year's superstar Ryzen 7 2700X to the current-generation Ryzen 7 3800X. So, no matter your budget or performance needs, you'll be able to find an awesome Black Friday PC gaming deal

No matter which of these processors you go for, you're going to be in for some pretty amazing performance. The Ryzen 5 3600X, in particular, is the poster child for value, able to crank out some impressive numbers while being limited to 6 cores and 12 threads. And, then there's they Ryzen 7 2700X the flagship of last year's lineup. It's since been dethroned by the Ryzen 7 3700X, but at just $149, the Ryzen 7 2700X is definitely not down for the count.

Finally, there's the Ryzen 7 3800X, and while we haven't got a chance to review it, it's basically a higher-clocked Ryzen 7 3700X, and we can definitely attest to that chip's performance.

All of these Newegg Black Friday processor deals are going to pay off, and you really can't go wrong. Just be aware that, while you can pair the new processors with an X470 board, you will have to update the BIOS to make it work.
