Apple to debut 13-in Retina MacBook Pro at iPad Mini event? Posted: The iPad Mini won't be the only mythical Apple product announced at the upcoming Apple event, with a 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro also apparently on the cards. 9to5Mac cites "a consistently reliable source at a high-profile US retailer" who confirmed that the 13-inch Retina Pro would be launching with the diminutive tablet. Although the details weren't specified the source also said that the new Retina Pro would launch in two different configurations, with non-Retina versions also available for slightly less money. Nope, I need one NOWIf you simply cannot wait until then, you can already pick up a 15-inch Retina Display-toting MacBook Pro. It's not the first we've heard of a late 2012 release for the smaller Retina Pro although analysts predicted a 'delay' to the laptops just last week. The iPad Mini launch event, which is in no way confirmed until we see an Apple invite pop up in our inboxes, is predicted to take place on October 23. |
Reputed iPad Mini price leak suggests €249 (£200) base price Posted: The iPad Mini is likely to launch with an extremely competitive price-point, according to what's purported to be a leaked inventory listing. German site MobileGeeks has obtained what it claims to be a screenshot from a commonly used inventory system in Europe and Asia, which lists every single iPad Mini model and the price-tag in Euros. If the picture (follow the link at the bottom of the article) is to be taken at face value, then the cheapest version of the rumoured diminutive tablet will be an 8GB model and will be priced at €249. Roughly translated, that would be around £200 and $320 U.S. dollars, although Apple has always applied its own pricing depending on the different regions. Cellular connectivity on board? The inventory leak suggests that there'll be eight versions of the iPad Mini, expected to be announced by Apple on October 23. It reveals 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models with Wi-Fi and the same storage range with cellular functionality built in. The top priced model, according to the leak, would be the 64GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model, which is listed at €649 (£522, $837 at today's exchange rate). The presence of mobile internet would be somewhat of a surprise given last week's Guardian report which cited sources claiming that Apple would keep the costs down by keeping the smaller tablet Wi-Fi only. The purported pricing, as CNET points out, would place the iPad Mini somewhere between the iPad and the iPod touch which is, essentially, what the device is likely to be. |
