Dmitry Bivol is looking to make the fifth defence of his title as current holder of the WBA light heavyweight belt, this time it's Joe Smith Jr that's taking a shot at the champ, and it's shaping up to be a cracker. Keep reading to see how to get a Bivol vs Smith Jr live stream.

While Bivol (15–1, 11 KOs) won his last fight against Jean Pascal in a unanimous decision, Smith Jr (24–2, 20 KOs) is also coming off a win after dropping Melvin Russell in the first round with a powerful knockout.

That wasn't a one off for Smith Jr though. He also famously knocked Bernard Hopkins clear out of the ring in what ended up being the veteran and legend's last fight. This is the power Bivol faces as he tries to avoid dropping his title tonight.

The highly skilled 28-year-old champ should, technically, be able to outmanoeuvre the big slugger that is the 29-year-old Smith Jr. But it only takes one good punch so there's still everything there to be won.

Bivol says about his challenger: "I saw his fights against Fonfara and Hopkins live and always wanted to test my skills against him. Thank you to World of Boxing, Matchroom Boxing USA and DAZN — I hope to put on a great performance for everybody!"

Talking of DAZN, that's just one of many ways that you can catch this fight, depending on where you are in the world. Read on to find out how to live stream the Dmitry Bivol vs Joe Smith Jr fight from absolutely anywhere.

In the US, UK or Canada tonight? Then scroll just a little further down this page and we'll tell you who's broadcasting the boxing from where you are.

But if you're abroad this weekend (or if the country where you live simply doesn't show boxing matches like this one) then you'll need another way to watch and avoid possible geo-blocking. That's where using a VPN comes in.

England vs Italy live stream: how to watch Six Nations rugby online from anywhere

Posted: 09 Mar 2019 08:10 AM PST

England vs Italy has seen some massive scores n the past, and today could be another in the Six Nations 2019. A very strong English side will be looking to bounce back with authority after losing to Wales last week. And you can watch the entire game - no matter where you are in the world. Live stream England vs Italy with our guide.

So far Italy has had a tough time of it losing to Scotland (33–20), Wales (26–15) and Ireland (26–16). Now it has England to contend with, a team that beat Ireland (32–20), France (44–8) and will feel hurt and ready to kill after that game in Wales a fortnight ago that ended ultimately in loss (13–21).

England no longer has the Grand Slam on offer, so the pressure could be lifted allowing the side to really cut lose against Italy. This is the chance to secure a third bonus point victory with eyes still on an overall Six Nations win. The England side will again be without Maro Itoje and now Courtney Lawes whose calf is strained. Jack Nowell is also out after a shoulder injury, but that does mean a first Six Nations start for the exciting winger Joe Cokanasiga.

Italy has shown strength in this tournament, going off the field at the interval against Ireland with the higher score thanks to good work from Edoardo Padovani and Luca Morisi. They have named three uncapped players in Marco Riccioni, Marco Zanon and Gloucester scrum-half Callum Braley, who as a former England U20 captain could be a real threat.

Read on to see how to get the England vs Italy live stream from where you are. You may be surprised how easy it is to watch Six Nations rugby from pretty much any corner of the globe.

Scotland vs Wales live stream: how to watch Six Nations rugby online from anywhere

Update: You missed it! The Doddy Weir Cup has been retained by Wales after beating Scotland in their own back yard 18-11. But there's more rugby union to be enjoyed today, with the Six Nations continuing at Twickenham. Use our guide to watch an England vs Italy live stream now.

The Six Nations 2019 has provided some great games so far, one of the highlights being when Wales beat England two weekends ago and thus retained its unbeaten status. The Grand Slam is well and truly on...although Scotland will have something to say about that. We're here to get you prepared for a Scotland vs Wales live stream, regardless of where in the world you are.

And it won't all be plain sailing for the Welsh. It doesn't take much to remember  them losing to Scotland at Murrayfield in 2017 Wales. And soundly, with a convincing 29–13 win for the Scots.

So far Scotland have beaten Italy (33–20) but then suffered defeats to Ireland (13–22) and France (27–10). By comparison, Wales have won all their 2019 Six Nations games, beating France (24–19), Italy (26–15) and then England (21–13).

But Scotland have got a stronger side than previously in the tournament, with key players returning from injury - including star stand-off Finn Russell and forwards Hamish Watson, WP Nel, Sam Skinner and Grant Stewart, as well as centre Stafford McDowall. Scotland is looking very strong indeed. Wales have kept its starting line-up largely the same with just one change announced as Adam Beard comes on at lock to replace the injured Cory Hill.

The game itself is free to air in the UK, so you can watch a Scotland vs Wales live stream for free. For all your other viewing options - ideal if you're outside the UK - keep on reading. Now you can watch every Six Nations game from wherever you are.

Six Nations 2019 live stream: how to watch rugby union online from anywhere

Posted: 09 Mar 2019 07:30 AM PST

With only two games of rugby left for each team in the 2019 Six Nations, it remains all to play for. Wales lead the table and are shooting for a Grand Slam, but England and Ireland are still in the hunt to win this year's rugby union title. In a World Cup year, it feels like gaining momentum with a tournament win now is just what these countries need. And with this guide, we'll tell you how to watch all the round 4 action (and beyond) from the comfort of your home, or anywhere else you can get an internet connection for that matter - live stream Six Nations 2019 rugby from anywhere.

After game week 3, Wales are now the only team that can win a Grand Slam in 2019. They dispatched England in round 3 with class, extending their record breaking winning streak to 12 consecutive games. After beating Ireland and thumping France, England were looking like a force to be reckoned with again and they will still be determined to win the 2019 Six Nations title when all is said and done.

The Irish were odds-on favourites to take the 2019 Six Nations title before the opening weekend, but can no longer make it two Grand Slams in a row. The famous victory that captain Rory Best's men recorded over the All Blacks in November now looks like a long time ago, and even getting past Italy felt like a struggle last time out.

Scotland will feel like this year's tournament has been a missed opportunity, especially after falling to a disappointing defeat in Paris. France and Italy had 2018s to forget and have a lot of improvements to make should they wish to challenge either here or in Japan.

For all the info about how to watch a Six Nations live stream, read on. And you can scroll down to see a list of next weekend's fixtures, too.

Huawei is planning two more smartwatches without Wear OS on board

Posted: 09 Mar 2019 06:30 AM PST

Huawei is planning some extra smartwatch models as follow-ups to the Huawei Watch GT, according to unofficial sources. Like the original device, they won't have Wear OS on board, but are set to use Huawei's own watch OS.

The new variants are set to be dubbed the Huawei Watch GT Active and the Huawei Watch GT Elegant, reports WinFuture, though don't expect too many changes.

Huawei Watch GT Active leak

Huawei Watch GT Active leak (credit: WinFuture)

One of the differences is going to be in the color design – in the leaked picture above, you can see the rumored dark green and orange options for the GT Active. The case and the bezel colors have been slightly tweaked as well.

Meanwhile, you'll be able to get the GT Elegant in the more straightforward white and black, WinFuture's sources report.

Price points

The screen size will apparently stay the same at 1.39 inches, and again the same Huawei-made software is going to be running the show rather than Google's Wear OS.

As for when we might see these devices, we've got no clue yet. The original Huawei Watch GT models appeared just a few months ago, but it sounds as though the new editions are imminent.

Pricing-wise, the rumor is that we'll see an increase – €249 (about $280 / £215 / AU$395) for the Active, and €229 (about $255 / £200 / AU$365) for the Elegant. That's up from €199 for the original.

That price bump might suggest some extra sensors or functionality, but as yet there's no indication about the internal specs or features.

The best powerline adapters 2019: top picks for expanding your home network

Posted: 09 Mar 2019 05:56 AM PST

Welcome to our list of the best powerline adapters of 2019, where you'll find the best devices for plugging into your home's power supply to turn it into a high-speed network.

The best powerline adapters are useful tools for making sure that every device in your home has access to the internet, especially if they rely on a wired internet connection. Rather than trailing Ethernet cables throughout your home or office, you can use powerline adapters to spread the network throughout your building.

In this updated guide, we've included Devolo's new Magic 2 WiFi powerline kit, which uses a brand new method of transferring data over your home's powerlines. This results in faster data transfer rates than ever before.

The best powerline adapters are also incredibly easy to install - just plug one into a power socket by your router or modem, and connect it via an Ethernet cable. Then, place a second adapter where you want to supply the network or internet to, and connect any devices to the second adaptor.

You can add more adapters throughout the building, and their network speeds are much faster than Wi-Fi, and thick walls and floors won't affect them. You will need the power lines in your building to be in good working order, however. Some Wi-Fi adapters also include Wi-Fi antennae for bringing wireless networks into difficult to reach parts of a building.

There's a large range of power line adapters available to buy, so to help you we've created this list of the very best power line adapters.

The Devolo Magic 2 WiFi is the latest series of adapters from the German company that allow you to use your home's power lines to transmit network data. It uses a new standard – G.hn – which promises much faster speeds. In fact, Devolo claims that Magic 2 can reach theoretical speeds of up to 2,400Mbps, a big leap over its last-generation Devolo dLAN 1200+ (below), which was capable of up to 1,200Mbps.

It is expensive, but you get the best powerline speeds we've seen so far. It's also worth noting that because of the new technology, the Devolo Magic 2 WiFi isn't backwards compatible, so it won't work with any of the other adapters in this list.

Devolo dLAN 1200+ WiFi ac

The Devolo dLAN 1200+ WiFi ac is one of the fastest powerline adapters on the market, able to reach speeds of 1.2 gigabits a second - though you should note that you won't often get those kinds of speeds, as there are numerous factors that can affect powerline speeds.

Still, this is a very fast powerline adaptor, and the fact it can also broadcast dual-band wireless ac networks makes this a very versatile powerline adaptor. The adaptor also has a pass through power port, which means you won't lose a power socket - just plug other devices into the adaptor itself.

TP-Link AV2000 Powerline

The TP-Link AV2000 takes the award for fastest power line adaptor, with a maximum speed of 2000Mbps - though of course actual speeds will be lower. Still, it offers fantastic speeds, along with built-in dual band wireless ac networks and a pass through socket.

In the starter kit you'll get two adapters, one has a single Ethernet port, which you should use to connect to your modem or router, and the second one has two Ethernet ports for connecting wired devices.

Asus 1200Mbps AV2 1200 Wi-Fi Powerline Adapter

Asus may not be the first company that comes to mind when you think about networking devices, but it makes some very good products - such as the Asus 1200Mbps AV2 1200 Wi-Fi Powerline Adapter.

As the name suggests this is a very fast powerline adaptor that is also able to broadcast a Wi-Fi network as well. Unlike other powerline adapters with Wi-Fi, the Asus 1200Mbps AV2 1200 Wi-Fi Powerline Adapter has external antennae, which allow you to angle them for increased coverage - though it does mean the units themselves look a little bit ugly compared to some of its competitors.

TP-LINK AV600 Powerline Adapter Kit

If you're looking for a nice, cheap but reliable powerline adaptor, than the TP-LINK AV600 is a great choice. It's a lot less money than many of the adapters on this list, but it still manages to offer plenty of features.

For example, it can broadcast Wi-Fi, and with a Wi-Fi clone button, you can easily extend your existing wireless network. it also features two Ethernet ports, and the second adaptor in the set includes a pass through socket so you don't lose out on a power socket when using the adaptor. While the 600Mbps top speed isn't as high as others on this list, it's still enough to transfer big files and stream media around your home.

Devolo dLAN Duo 500 Powerline Adapter

This is an excellent entry-level power adaptor that does a very good job at transmitting your network traffic over your powerlines. It doesn't boast the highest speeds, nor does it have Wi-Fi or a passthrough socket, but it does the job well considering the price, and its low cost means it's easy to add adapters to your network in the future.

The best small business printers of 2019

Posted: 09 Mar 2019 05:44 AM PST

If you're looking for the best small business printers in 2019, then you've come to the right place, as we've gathered together the very best printers that suit the needs for small and medium sized businesses.

Getting the best small business printer for your needs involves making sure that the device can cope with the demands of a small office, while also being capable of increasing its output as your business grows. You don't want to buy a printer for your small business, then have to upgrade too soon when your business expands.

The best small business printers are economical to run – so they won't cost a lot in electricity bills or going through ink or toner cartridges – and they should also offer fast print speeds that's not at the expense of image quality.

The small business printers on this list can also cope with handling multiple tasks from multiple people throughout the day. Even the smallest of businesses will be sending documents from networked PCs all day – and if they can also offer photocopying, faxing and scanning features as well, that's even better.

We've got some brilliant all-in-one printers on this list which are space and money saving devices for the smallest of offices. All-in-one printers that offer photocopying and scanning not only can save your small business money compared to buying the devices individually, having them all in one compact device will save space as well.

If you're not sure about what type of small business printer you need, head to the bottom of our guide, where we explain the best ways to find and buy the best small business printer that suits your needs.

So where do you need to start? Even the most modest office will likely be networked, and sharing a resource as useful as a printer is an essential. So you should only be looking at printers that are capable of networked use. Wired offers speed and robust function for a fixed office. Wireless is flexible, cheap to deploy but not as fast in use.

Here are the best 10 printers for businesses - as chosen by the Techradar Pro team - large and small, from a basic monochrome lasers suitable for a small business and a home office through to a small departmental multifunction printer.

Ricoh SP-213w

The notion of the large, expensive laser printer should have long been dispelled and if nothing else can do that then the Ricoh SP-213w will. This small-footprint mono printer costs less than many inkjets but has the capability to provide basic wireless-based print services to a home office or smaller office. With a monthly duty cycle of 20,000 pages per month, a 1200 x 600dpi print resolution and a print speed of up to 22 pages per minute, its small size shouldn't hide the fact that this could be a little workhorse. Beyond these basics, the Ricoh SP-213w offers manual duplex, a Print and Scan mobile app, support for PCL and a two-year pan-European warranty.

Samsung Xpress M2835DW

If you want an affordable printer for your business that excels in black and white print quality - and is a speedy performer to boot - then you really can't go wrong with the Samsung Xpress M2835DW. Its small and compact body contains a huge host of features, and its easy to use and understand buttons makes quickly firing off prints a piece of cake.

It supports both wired and Wi-Fi connectivity, runs quietly and can even be controlled via smartphone. Its Eco mode allows you to control the amount of power and ink it consumes while printing, and overall this is an absolutely fantastic business printer.

Brother HL-L8360CDW

The Brother HL-L8360CDW is an excellent all-round printer for the office. Thanks to its large capacity and fast print speeds, this is a printer that won't grind to a halt in a busy environment.

It's not just fast either - the print quality is also very good as well. It prints in both black and white and colour, and it has low running costs as well, making this an economical choice in the long run.

Ricoh SPC-240DN

There was a time, not so long ago, when colour laser printing was exorbitant. That has fortunately changed with the likes of the Ricoh SPC-240DN doing their best to bring prices down. This is a massive printer at nearly 24kg so you will need to have a strong back and enough desk space to take it on board. Its starter toner kit will produce around 1000 pages and probably better than inkjet ones which dry out with time. It can print up to 16 pages per minute (colour or mono) and has a duty cycle of 30,000 pages per month. It offers both Ethernet and USB ports and, with a 250-page input paper tray, has enough to make a small office pleased. However, at 600 x 600dpi, its print resolution may leave some wanting for more.

HP PageWide Pro 477dw

The HP PageWide Pro 477dw isn't going to win any design awards but what it lacks in aesthetics it really does make up for in functionality and speed. This entry-level office multi-function inkjet printer offers all the standard print, copy, scan and fax features you'd want to see in an office workhorse. Add to that wired Ethernet alongside wireless networking and it has all the connectivity, too (including Wi-Fi Direct and NFC). Suited to the home and smaller small office, it has a conveniently compact footprint, until you open its paper trays to print. A top speed of 55ppm is stunning for this class of printer, particularly considering its asking price. The inclusion of a 50-sheet automatic document feeder adds to an all-round excellent paper handling capability. Its ability to multitask with print and copy jobs nicely complements the large touch-capable LCD screen.

Epson EcoTank ET-4550

Consumables are usually expensive when it comes to printers. So it is quite surprising that one vendor, Epson, single-handedly decided to challenge that status quo by allowing users to refill their printer using ink bottles. What's even more surprising is that Epson includes two years of ink with the package; no more expensive cartridges and instead, you have enough material to deliver 11,000 pages worth of black and colour inks (that's 700ml worth of liquid). Oh and there's even a three-year warranty making this a great choice for bean counters fixing the TCO of their printers. The ET-4550 lacks the features found on cheaper competitors – it is relatively slower (although it has a higher printing resolution) and has a small paper input tray.

Ricoh SG-2100N

Ricoh makes it four in our shortlist with the SG-2100N, a bargain basement printer that brings together the best of inkjet and laser technology. It delivers the sort of performance usually associated with devices costing three times its price. A water insoluble, viscous ink combined with a higher-than-average print resolution and a print speed – 29ppm – that surpasses anything at this price range (albeit in draft) make this Ricoh printer one of the best on the market for very small offices. Other features worth noting are manual duplex capabilities, a two-year onsite warranty (parts and labour), a well thought out design, affordable consumables, an Ethernet port and a generous input paper tray.

Read the full review: Ricoh SG-2100N

HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 Wireless All-in-One Printer

The HP Officejet Pro 8720 All-in-One is a practical and affordable business printer that also comes with copy and fax capabilities, and it can connect to your network wirelessly as well. It's an excellent fit for small to medium-sized businesses, but for larger organisations it may struggle to keep up. It's got excellent printing speeds, however, and the touch screen makes it simple to use. However, it lacks a few business-orientated features that its more expensive brethren boast, and it's not quite the best when it comes to print quality, either. However, this is an excellent business printer if you're conscious of your budget.

Brother MFC-L8650CDW

This is a heavyweight colour laser multifunction device intended for small business or workgroup use. Its slabby black and white design is functional and includes a large touchscreen for control, though the printer is only rated up to a recommended 3,000 pages per month. The MFC-L8650CDW includes a 50-sheet automatic document feeder which handles duplex scans and the printer offers duplex copying and printing as well; a welcome surprise! It's rated at 28ppm for both black and colour prints dropping to about seven sheets when printing in duplex. It can handle input from USB, Ethernet or via wireless hook-up, with support for iOS and Android mobiles. A USB port offers scanning to and printing from USB drives.

Brother HL-S7000DN

If only the fastest printer will do, then consider the HL-S7000DN. Surprisingly enough, it is an inkjet printer rather than a laser one. It's fast enough to print out the entire contents of the Bible (Old and New Testaments) in about 20 minutes at the speed of 100 pages per minute (that's roughly 500 words per second). If your needs are less ambitious, then the 500-sheet capacity of its input and output tray should suffice. There's also a 100-sheet multipurpose tray to accommodate other media types. As expected, it prints at a resolution of 600 x 600dpi, has a Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, Wi-Fi and a USB 2.0 port. Its maximum monthly duty cycle, 275,000 pages or 16 A4 reams printed every day, should satisfy even the busiest offices.

How to buy a business printer

Multi-function features can be found across the board and at all cost scales. Basic features start with USB Key and card readers for PC-free printing, moving to scanner and copier functions. At the higher end, automatic document feeders (ADF) can manage 50 copies in a single go and produce booklets including duplex printing, stapling and folding. Often the basic ADF features will accommodate most medium-sized offices.

In the past there has been a marked difference in Cost Per Page (CPP) between lasers and inkjets but in recent years, inkjets have managed to drop their prices to compete. Either way it's important you carefully assess the CPP of each device.

Manufacturers measure the toner or cartridge yields with an industry standard ISO rating. So you can safely assess the total price of replacing all the cartridges or toners divided by the print yield across all the potential models.

The total volume of prints you're going to make also needs to be taken into account. Devices often quote a "duty cycle" monthly maximum and recommended figures. These are the total number of prints it's designed to handle per month. If possible assess the number of prints per employee for the office and ensure the device is capable of meeting your current and future demands.

Finally in the past colour especially for laser printers has demanded a premium, that's not so much the case these days. However these models are still more expensive due to the additional materials required for the toners and printer manufacture. There's still a big enough differential that if you don't need regular colour you should opt for a mono model, perhaps using a cheaper inkjet or even out-of-house printing for occasional colour requirements.

New 2019 iPad tipped to keep Touch ID and the headphone jack

Posted: 09 Mar 2019 02:30 AM PST

Apple is planning to launch a new entry-level iPad for 2019, and it's not going to usher in too many changes design-wise, according to the latest reports – and that means Touch ID and the 3.5 mm headphone jack live on for another year.

Mac Otakara reports that the 2019 iPad is going to look a lot like the 2018 iPad. There are conflicting insider tips about the size though, with some sources saying the screen will get pushed up to 10 inches or 10.2 inches from the current 9.7 inches.

That might leave a bit more room in the line-up for the iPad Mini 5: Apple is being widely tipped to refresh its smallest iPad model at the same time as it brings out a new budget iPad, possibly as early as this month.

The newly updated iPad Mini isn't expected to change much in terms of its design either, so it sounds as though Apple is planning one last hurrah for the old form factor. It should keep prices down, at least.

What to expect

It's only a year ago that Apple introduced the most recent entry-level iPad, yours for $329 / £319 / AU$469, and the updated model is expected to retail for a similar price.

Apart from a rumored launch date of this month, there's not too much we know about the upcoming 2019 iPad. It would appear Apple is going to give the internals a bump and then leave it at that.

It might also stick with support for the older, original Apple Pencil, rather than adapting to work with the newer, wireless model that Apple introduced with the 2018 iPad Pros.

Whatever Apple has in the pipeline, we'll be sure to bring you the news as and when it's announced – but maybe don't throw away your wired headphones just yet.

Opinion: enough with claiming the world's fastest autofocus

Posted: 09 Mar 2019 02:00 AM PST

As helpful as it is to have camera manufacturers focusing on something other than megapixels these days, they still need to come up with reasons to brag about their latest models; whether it's a brand-new feature or an existing one made much better, new cameras need a reason to exist.

Today, the focus seems to be on focus itself – more specifically, just how promptly an autofocus system can spring to life and get a lock on the subject you’re shooting. What we now see is a suspiciously high number of cameras with the words 'world’s fastest autofocus system' somewhere in their press release.

Unless you’re blessed with the reflexes of a fly, autofocus speed is incredibly difficult to measure in real-world conditions, so we’re taking the manufacturers at their word when they claim their latest camera can manage to focus in 0.04 or 0.03 seconds. But when everyone starts to claim what appears to be same crown for their own system, you start to wonder what’s going on – and how exactly they can do this.

The caveat

Scan a new camera’s press release and you’ll notice that claims about the world’s fastest anything are almost always accompanied by an asterisk, dagger, or a superscripted number, as there are a number of party tricks that need clarification. Whichever it is, the reason for its inclusion is the same: whatever it is that's being claimed is only true in very specific conditions.

Take Canon’s latest EOS RP mirrorless camera. The very first paragraph of the press release claims it has the world’s fastest autofocus, but you have to work your way to the small print right at the end to understand exactly what Canon means by this. It reads (take deep breath):

As of 13 February 2019, among interchangeable lens digital mirrorless cameras incorporating a 35mm full frame equivalent image sensor with contrast detection AF and phase detection AF on the image plane. Calculated from the results of measured AF speed, based on CIPA guidelines (differs depending on shooting conditions and lens used). Measured using internal methods. Measurement conditions: EV12 (ambient temperature/ISO 100), Manual Mode, using the RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM (at a focal length of 24mm) with the following settings: shutter released using the shutter button, 1-point AF (Center AF), One-Shot AF.

So, it's with a specific lens that few people own, used at a specific focal length, with a specific method of focusing and in a specific focus mode. Canon deserves credit for transparency, but “measured using internal methods” means nothing if you don’t know what those methods are. Furthermore, the fact that it’s only relevant against “digital mirrorless cameras incorporating a 35mm full frame equivalent image sensor with contrast detection AF and phase detection AF on the image plane”, may well be as clear as it is fair, but these models still only represent a fraction of the camera market as a whole.

Everyone seems to be at it

The EOS RP is just the most recent example – similar claims were made for the previous EOS R and the company's DSLRs before this – but Canon isn’t the only manufacturer playing this game. Indeed, you don’t need to look too far back to find many other brand's claiming the world’s fastest autofocus for their own models, with each claim coming with the obligatory caveats.

This includes Sony, with its A6400 earlier this year, and previously with its RX100 IV and RX100 V compact cameras, along with Panasonic with its Lumix G9. Fujifilm, Olympus and Nikon have all marketed cameras with similar claims in the past.

Few people will read the small print to understand exactly what’s being stated, but these claims are often repeated elsewhere without qualification, which makes them even less accurate or useful. Of course, manufacturers can’t be held responsible for that, but the intention is to get that headline claim out there, and assume you won't do any research beyond this.

We’re also now at a point where a measured difference of 0.01 second between two models makes virtually no difference in practice, even less so if these speeds are only realized in very specific circumstances. When you consider the myriad other factors that inform the capabilities and performance of different autofocus systems – be they tangible ones such as the extent to which an AF system covers the frame, or things that can only be understood through testing – you see just how little value there is in such a simplistic statement.

Such claims will always attract attention, though – and that, of course, is the point. And cameras do get better over time, partly through having sprightlier and more refined autofocusing systems, so we should expect the same kinds of claims to keeping being made. But if you genuinely want to buy the camera with the 'best' autofocusing then it makes far more sense to focus on the technical details, and figure out what your particularly strand of shooting requires. How well a camera adheres to a moving subject; or acquires a lock in poor light or with low-contrast subjects; or gives you agency over adjusting how a focusing system responds to changes in a subject’s movement – it’s the sum of all these things that separate good autofocusing systems from great ones.
