Whyte vs Rivas live stream: how to watch tonight's boxing online from anywhere

There's loads on the line tonight at the O2 in London as Britain's Dillian Whyte takes on Colombia's Oscar Rivas. Both the WBC interim heavyweight title and a future crack at champion Deontay Wilder as mandatory challenger are the spoils for the victor in what looks set to be an explosive showdown. You can live stream the Whyte vs Rivas fight and its undercard using our guide below.

Whyte has had a frustrating wait to get his dream title fight, having been ranked as the top contender by the WBC since November 2017. A win tonight will earn him the big money bout he's been craving for so long. Whyte comes into tonight's tear up with nine straight wins under his belt - the most recent coming against his fellow Brit rival Dereck Chisora in December.

He certainly hasn't taken the easy option with his opponent tonight - Oscar 'Kaboom' Rivas, a 32-year-old Colombian who usually fights out of Canada, has an impeccable 26-0 (18 KOs) professional record. His past conquests include Andy Ruiz Jr, the recent shock victor over Anthony Joshua.

There's a pretty strong undercard to get things nicely warmed up as well, with veteran Brit heavyweight Dereck Chisora taking on the equally unpredictable Artur Szpilka from Poland.

Read on to find out how to live stream Whyte vs Rivas boxing from absolutely anywhere.

Best free website builder 2019

Posted: 20 Jul 2019 08:28 AM PDT

Creating a website used to be the domain (geddit?) of professional designers and coders, but thanks to free website builder applications, these days it's something anyone can tackle.

The problem is that there are so many website creation applications and services vying for attention that it can be difficult to know which one to opt for – this is where we can help.

We've collated the very best free website builders available, including a mixture of offline software and online tools.

It's usually quicker, easier and more efficient to create and edit a site entirely online with a WYSIWYG editor, but if you want complete control over every aspect of your site's design and web hosting, you'll need a desktop-based free website builder.

So whether you're looking to create a site for your business, a new blog, or you just fancy creating an online presence for yourself, here are the best free website builder services to help you out.

  • If you want website builders with more oomph and features, check out our best website builder shortlist which includes paid-for services.

Constant Contact

Constant Contact provides an intelligent website builder and ecommerce store platform, both of which are free to use.

Setting up a website is easy using drag-and-drop functionality, allowing you to set up a design simply and easily, and insert the features you need.

Settings are automatically optimized for mobile platforms and SEO, and there is a free image library with over 50,000 images included as part of the package.

The ecommerce platform allows for online payments through Paypal, Mollie, or Stripe. There are order and inventory features that automatically updates inventory with orders, and sends an email alert when items become out-of-stock.

While the basic level website is free, there are paid plans which add more features. Additionally, there is also a paid email marketing option available to allow you to reach new customers.

Overall, Constant Contact does a good job of setting up the basics. The free plan is a great way to set up your website, and there is a 60-day free trial if you do upgrade.

Wix

Wix makes it very easy to design a website, while giving experts plenty of power to customize elements if they need it

Wix is a big-name website builder which offers a free plan, enabling you to have the run of this service without having to put your hand in your pocket. And you benefit from one of the most impressive website editors in the business.

This editor can be run in ADI (Artificial Design Intelligence) mode, which has a very basic interface to keep everything really simple and user-friendly. This is great for beginners, as you can create a basic site without even remotely breaking a sweat (a range of attractive templates are provided, as well).

Those who want to get more involved with tweaking the design of their website can step up to the full Wix editor, which boasts powerful functionality, and the ability to really hone your website and get it looking just as you want. Visual previews of page elements make it easy to pick what you need for any particular part of a web page, too.

Wix is so polished that putting together your site using the editor feels more like using a native application rather than a website builder, and it also sports excellent support for a diverse range of media, and quality customer support as well, even on the free plan. In addition, Wix Turbo was recently released which improves the performance and speed of all Wix websites.

Powerful blogging functionality rounds things off nicely, and you’re getting a truly high quality offering with the free version of this website builder.

Weebly

If you want to create a website as quickly as possible, look no further than Weebly. It's so easy to use, you'll have a great-looking site online in mere minutes

Weebly offers you two ways to build your website. Both involve creating it online, and both are as quick and painless as possible.

The simplest option is to use the basic editor builder which will guide you through a series of questions before automatically creating a site for you. There is scope for customization, but the focus here is really on fast results for anyone who is terrified of designing websites.

A more hands-on approach is available if you decide to use the standard Editor. There are literally hundreds of stylish templates to choose from – and, yes, they are genuinely impressive – which you can tweak and tailor to your needs using a beautiful WYSIWYG editor.

Despite being a cloud-based website builder, Weebly gives you a great degree of control over the look of your site and placement of page elements. You can also liven it up using additional features such as a newsletter and live chat. This power and flexibility make Weebly a top-notch website builder.

WordPress

WordPress is the tool of choice for many blog owners. It takes a little getting used to, but once you've mastered it, you'll love its flexibility

Causing a slight degree of confusion, there are actually two different versions of WordPress. The more complex variant can be downloaded from wordpress.org, and you will need to upload it to your own web space and install it using the automated online installer. You can then customize the templates and use add-ons to make the site your own.

This is the route many bloggers go down, but there is a simpler option for people who don’t want the hassle of fiddling about with scripts and getting dirty with hardcore editing.

The hosted version of WordPress lets you create your own site on wordpress.com. You can create everything from a blog or photo site, to a fully fledged online store, and there are a number of templates to choose from. Additionally, Mailchimp users have a benefit of adding a Mailchimp block, which can grow your mailing list among other things.

Whether you're creating a static site, or a blog-style site with regularly updated content, the online editor is a joy to use and allows just about anyone to create an impressive, professional-looking site. The only downside is the limited range of plugins and templates compared with the desktop website builder.

WebSite X5

WebSite X5 makes building a website on your desktop easy, with good-looking templates and an intuitive site builder

Incomedia WebSite X5 received an overhaul in April 2019 with new templates, an updated interface, new paid versions and more. The main thing to note is that the service now has a free version for everyone (note that the free version for TechRadar readers is still available to download). There are two paid versions, Evo and Pro, priced at $79.99 and $229 respectively. This is a one time purchase and naturally, both versions come with additional and improved features compared to the free one. There is also a demo version of both paid versions that you can try out.

Unlike WordPress and Wix, WebSite X5 is a desktop website builder, which means you can work on your site offline and have more freedom to make your website look exactly the way you want.

There's a range of ready-made templates to choose from, or you can create your own design from scratch. Next, build up your site map, showing the hierarchy of your pages and how they connect to one another – a feature you won't find in most web-based site builder apps.

Once that's done, you're ready to start building your pages using Website X5's simple drag-and-drop interface, which includes tools for editing both rich text and photos.

If you don't want to be tied down to an online site builder, WebSite X5 is the tool for you.

CoffeeCup Free HTML Editor

CoffeeCup Free HTML Editor isn't a WYSIWYG website builder, but it provides a live preview of your site as you create it

CoffeeCup Free HTML Editor is one of a dying breed of web building programs that don't use a CMS (content management system). While not in the same league as the likes of Adobe Dreamweaver, Free HTML Editor packs quite a professional punch. With split screen code/preview views, it's possible to see the effect the changes you make have straight away.

To help you get started quickly, there are a number of templates built into the program, and there are some very nice features such as tag and code suggestions as you type.

For absolute beginners, the program might seem a little overwhelming to start with, but it's worth sticking with – assuming you have some HTML knowledge. There is one slight issue; a number of features, such as spell-checking and code optimization, are only included in the paid-for version of the program.

Joomla

If you've used WordPress before, you might be interested in the power of Joomla. It's not as easy to use though, so beginners are better off sticking with a simpler option like Wix

Joomla is a well-known name in the CMS world. It may not be as popular as WordPress, but it offers the same two options: build a site using the web app at launch.joomla.org and have it hosted on the company's servers, or download the software from joomla.org and host it yourself.

If you choose the latter option, you'll notice that the interface is much less approachable than WordPress. It's not completely impenetrable, but there are lots of menus and options to work through and it doesn't feel quite as polished as WordPress.

Joomla's online website builder is nearly as complex, but doesn't involve the same setup process, making it a better option for beginners. Its key selling point is a huge collection of themes and extensions, which provide endless ways to customize the way your site looks and works.

Huawei says its upcoming OS software won't replace Android

Posted: 20 Jul 2019 06:30 AM PDT

We're not entirely sure what Huawei is working on deep inside its software labs – Ark OS, possibly, or Harmony OS – but the company says the operating system it's building is being designed for industrial use rather than as a direct Android replacement.

That's as per the state-backed Xinhua news agency, which reports a Huawei executive insisting that Android will continue to run on Android phones for the foreseeable future.

Huawei senior Vice President Catherine Chen told the media that the operating system – which also goes by the name Hongmeng – is "not for smartphones" and has far more lines of code than would be needed for consumer mobile devices.

The comments need to be taken in a wider context though: Huawei representatives have previously said that the Chinese tech giant is indeed working on a replacement for Android. That might be true as well, of course, even if what we know as Hongmeng or Ark or Harmony isn't it.

The waiting game

If you're a little confused about where Huawei is heading with this, don't worry, because you're not alone. This is all playing out against the backdrop of Huawei's strained ties with the US, with the situation – and the public narrative – changing week by week.

Chen is reported as saying that Hongmeng has been in the works for years – something we already knew – and we had been lead to believe the OS might cover laptops and wearables as well as mobile phones.

Not so, according to Chen's latest comments, which may be intended to smooth over relationships between Huawei and Google in the light of a possible easing of restrictions. The two companies have enjoyed a strong partnership in the past, and it seems Huawei would much prefer to stick with Android if it has the chance to do so.

We can only wait and see what happens with Huawei's access to US software and the operating system it runs on its phones. The next flagship due to arrive from the Huawei stable is the Huawei Mate 30 and Huawei Mate 30 Pro, expected around October time.

The 2019 Ford Shelby GT350 track apps point to future customization in cars

Posted: 20 Jul 2019 06:00 AM PDT

It’s rare when the extra settings and options available in any car are so numerous it takes an afternoon to test them all. With the 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 performance car, I had to find a private road and test out a series of Track Apps, some of which are so fun to use I retested them a few times. It’s a sign of how further customization in cars will work in the future, especially the current age of highly connected cars that go far beyond the basics.

One of the 'non-basic' features that impressed me the most had to do with the gauges. Muscle cars from Dodge and others do a good job of providing data about G-force, oil temp, and the turbo-charge PSI (pounds per square inch). You can use these to monitor the car but more importantly to see how far you can push the performance car on a track.

Testing and tracking

In the Shelby GT350, it’s a bit astounding. I used one gauge for the voltage, cylinder head temp, inlet air temp, air/fuel ratio, and engine oil temp. I’ve never seen so many gauges, all displayed in the instrument cluster above the steering wheel so you can keep your eyes on the road. I tested all of them on the private road, watching the gauge level levels closely.

Next, I tested a feature called 'line lock' that locks the front brakes only. Since the GT350 is a rear-wheel drive car, you can imagine there’s some tire spin. It helps push off the starting block and creates some smoke if you race the engine too long (I avoided that).

A lap timer goes beyond what I’ve seen in other muscle cars. For example, there are three timers available so you can use them one after the other instead of resetting a single timer each test. I won’t say I was pushing the car too hard on a country road, yet it was fun to have this level of detail to monitor and track my success over time.

In the Track Apps, there’s a status screen that shows all of the settings you’ve selected, including whether you have disabled traction control, the option you selected for the suspension, and whether launch control is available. Launch control is a way to set the car for the best possible launch to test a lap, locking the brakes and revving the engine for you.

Honestly, that’s just the beginning. I found a series of timers for a quarter mile and half-mile, brake tests, and just about any other timer you can think of using.

For me, this level of detail matches up nicely with how someone might use the GT350 on a track. In my area, that’s a very real possibility. It’s possible to take performance cars like the Shelby to local tracks and do some spirited driving tests.

Beyond the track

I was more interested in how the gauges point to a future where every driver has more information available. When we don’t have to watch the road as closely and the vehicle is driving for us, we might care about monitoring things like the miles driven on the current set of tires, or the total miles driven on a highway versus city roads. We might want to monitor the fuel economy for a given area or how traffic congestion and street lights impacted our MPG.

More than that, as I’ve been predicting for a while, cars will eventually let us customize all of the gauges as though the dash was a Windows computer. We could mix and match gauges, run analytics on the car, and customize the interface the way we want. I’m looking forward to that 'home brew' stage of autonomous driving and it can’t come fast enough.

Cyberpunk 2077 has a hardcore mode that says goodbye to UI

Posted: 20 Jul 2019 05:29 AM PDT

CD Projekt Red is trying to appeal to those who want to put the ‘punk’ in Cyberpunk 2077 with the option of playing in 'hardcore' mode.

In an interview with Wccftech, CD Projekt Red’s Alvin Liu discussed hardcore mode, revealing that it will get rid of the game’s UI to provide a “real challenge” for players. That means there’ll be no markers or indicators telling you where things are or what level of enemy you’re going up against. It’s real immersion in Night City and the desert beyond with the potential for real frustration.

Of course, it’s not just the hardcore players that are being catered to in Cyberpunk 2077; Liu revealed that there will also be modes for those who are less experienced with first person games and shooters and wish to enjoy a more laidback experience.

Something for everyone

“If you want to play more casually for the story and maybe you’re not experienced with shooters, which was a real big concern for us. We want to tell a story and maybe you’re a big fan of The Witcher and you’re not comfortable playing a shooter, we have settings available for that.”

Liu explains that as well as settings for less experienced players, there will also be weapons. The smart gun, for example, will help players to aim. Though it comes at the cost of the smart gun being a weaker and slower weapon. It will, however, be a good start for those looking to get to grips with the aiming system.

For those unfamiliar with first person games, there’s also going to be a Field of View slider. Making more of the game world visible through the eyes of the avatar should alleviate that sense of tunnel vision that comes from trading third person view for first person and the potential for nausea this can cause some players.

Between its various accessibility settings, branching story, optional romances and the ability to play without killing any other characters it’s clear that CD Projekt Red is putting a heavy emphasis on player choice in Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC on April 16.

Google Stadia Pro subscribers will get ‘roughly one free game per month’

Posted: 20 Jul 2019 02:53 AM PDT

It’s not long until Google Stadia’s launch in November 2019 and to clear up some of the uncertainties around what the streaming service will offer, product director, Andrey Doronichev, has taken to Reddit for an AMA.

One of the biggest misunderstandings cleared up in the course of the questioning is whether or not the Google Stadia Pro subscription is some kind of ‘Netflix for Games’, as the Google Stadia website makes reference to to “an ever-expanding library of free games.” It absolutely isn’t.

“A closer comparison would be like Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus,” Doronichev explains, “The Pro subscribers get 4K/HDR streaming, 5.1 sound, exclusive discounts and access to some free games. Roughly one free game per month give or take. Starting with Destiny 2 (yay!).”

Not Netflix

If Pro subscribers want any other games on top of the free monthly game, they’ll pay full price for them on top of their £8.99/$9.99 per month subscription, although there will be some Stadia Pro exclusive discounts to sweeten the deal.

If you unsubscribe and then re-subscribe to Pro later, you’ll regain access to the free games you claimed during your subscription but you’ll have missed out on the games that were free when you were unsubscribed. So, if you want that free Destiny 2 access you better make sure you’re there at launch.

If you’re looking to hold out for Stadia Base, the free version of the service launching in 2020, don’t, unsurprisingly, expect any free games or exclusive discounts.

When the Stadia Pro launches this year, all of the service’s basic functionalities, including the game store, the ability to play across multiple devices and some built-in social features, will be up and running. But there is a post-launch pipeline for more features.

In the future, for example, Google will be looking to add support for more devices, including smartphones (the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a will be the only phones supported at launch) and streaming boxes.

It’s also worth noting that Stadia controllers won’t work with Bluetooth headsets at launch. There will be a workaround where players using a Google Chrome browser or a Pixel 3 phone will be able to connect their headset to their laptop or phone instead. Otherwise, there’s still a headphone jack on the controller for wired headsets until that Bluetooth support expands.

Despite this AMA, there are still some questions around Google Stadia across the gaming community. But Google is attempting to make it clear that it’s committed to game streaming in the long term and to appeal to those looking for the freedom of playing the latest games without downloads, updates or hardware restrictions.

Netflix drops the first trailer for its upcoming Witcher series

Posted: 20 Jul 2019 02:30 AM PDT

Feast your eyes on this, Witcher fans: Netflix has pushed out the first trailer for the upcoming TV show that's based on the popular stories by Andrzej Sapkowski (and that have also spawned a classic series of games),

So what have we got here? Some monsters, some dramatic special effects, some impressive looking locations, and some pretty brooding looks by leading man Henry Cavill (of Superman and Mission: Impossible fame).

We've been waiting for the TV series to appear for a couple of years now and our patience is going to be rewarded very soon – there's no official launch date for the show, but Netflix has confirmed it'll be streaming before the end of the year.

Other stars you can expect to see on screen are Freya Allan playing Ciri, Anya Chalotra playing Yennefer, and Anna Shaffer playing Triss Merigold. Check out the trailer in all its glory below.

Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and her team look to have crafted a rich and immersive fantasy world for The Witcher to play out in – although trailers can be deceiving, we'd say this one looks very promising.

Sapkowski is on board as a creative consultant, so we're expecting the show to follow the short stories and novel fairly closely. The trailer suggests the origin stories of Ciri and Yennefer are going to be crucial to the action.

And action there will be it seems – this two-minute clip shows our protagonist facing off against a variety of foes in a variety of different forms. Stick around to the end for perhaps the most dramatic shot of the trailer.

If you're completely new to the Witcher franchise, it centers on the adventures of mutated monster hunter Geralt of Rivia (played by Cavill). The original books have already been adapted into a Polish television series.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare release date, trailer and news

Posted: 20 Jul 2019 01:52 AM PDT

Call of Duty Modern Warfare is going back to the series' roots. Forget the zombies. Forget the WWII battles. Forget the jetpacks, exo launchers and all the other future weaponry – Call of Duty is going back to one of the most beloved series within the franchise with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a reboot of the highly-lauded 2007 first person shooter that's set in today's battlefields.

It’s all about the gritty realities of war this time out, with the ‘modern’ of the ‘Modern Warfare’ title referring to the high-tech gear of today, the cutting-edge killing machines employed in combat right now in places like the Middle East and Russia, rather than the far-flung fantasies of science fiction.

With the battle royale genre taking up many shooter fans’ spare gaming time, Call of Duty’s crown as the king of competitive shooters has slipped in the past few years. Can a return to its most-popular roots bring it back to glory?

Read on for what we know so far.

[Update: Infinity Ward has released some 4K footage of the new 2v2 multiplayer mode, Gunfight. Watch it for yourself and find out more below.]

Cut to the chase

  • What is it? The sixteenth Call of Duty game
  • What can I play it on? PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC
  • When can I play it? October 25, 2019

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare release date

Announced right before E3 2019, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare leaked ahead of the event but a trailer gave us our first glimpse and a variety of details for the game.

It included the release date, which is set for October 25, 2019. You're already able to pre-order the game on the official site too.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare trailers

Infinity Ward has confirmed a brand new multiplayer mode for Modern Warfare called Gunfight and released five whole minutes of crisp 4K gameplay to give players a better idea of what to expect from this fast-paced, 2v2 mode. Watch it for yourself below.

The first trailer for Modern Warfare was the release trailer that debuted on May 30.

In it, we can see series protagonist (and all-around badass) Captain Price light up, and some intense - and dare we say great-looking - nightvision sequences.

You can watch it below:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare news

Full Multiplayer Reveal

While fans have had a first look at Gunfight, Modern Warfare’s new 2v2 multiplayer mode, a more full reveal has been announced for August 1. On a Twitch livestream, Infinity Ward is expected to show how the game’s story will continue into its online play and how progression across modes will play out.

Gunfight

Infinity Ward gave fans their first peek at multiplayer gameplay via Twitch followed by a five minute long 4K trailer. Four players streamed Modern Warfare live on the streaming platform, debuting Gunfight, the brand new 2v2 multiplayer mode that will be in the game.

Gunfight is a mode for four players where two teams will play in “multi-round cage matches” across three small custom maps. Every two rounds, teams will swap to opposite sides of the map. All four players will have the same loadout which will typically be comprised of a primary and secondary weapon as well as a tactical Grenade and a piece of Lethal Equipment. The first team to win six rounds are the winners.

This is going to be a mode for players that like fast rounds, with each round counting down on a 40 second timer. If one team hasn’t wiped out the other by the time the 40 seconds is up, a flag will appear on the map. The first team to control the area around the flag for more than three seconds is them the winner of the round. Each round, overall, will last for around a minute so speed is key.

Aim Down Sight reload

Infinity Ward has confirmed in a blog post that Modern Warfare will have Aim Down Sight reload, the first time the feature has appeared in a Call of Duty game by default.

Aim Down Sight reload will mean that, while aiming down the sight of your weapon, your view won't be pulled away to watch an animation when you reload. Instead, you'll stay on target.

Animation director Mark Grigsby offered some details on the feature in the post:

“One other thing we added this year is the ADS [Aiming Down Sight] reload. In the past, if you're ADS, and you're shooting and you reload, the weapon would go off to the side, and you'd have to retrain to get to your target. This time if you reload, it stays on the target, so you can stay in the battle.”

"Ripped straight from the headlines"
We watched a behind-the-doors demo of the new Call of Duty during E3 2019 - and it wasn't for the feint-hearted. The demo (which was cut short from other press demos earlier in the week) firstly showed a cutscene of a terrorist incident at London's Piccadilly Circus before launching into gameplay from a mission called 'Hour of the Wolf'.

This mission sees you tracking down the instigator of the terrorist attack (AKA The Wold) to a townhouse in North London. As a member of the SAS, the player creeps up a ladder and into the back of the dimly lit home where they methodically assassinate the plain-clothes terrorists occupying the residency. There's even an unsettling situation involving a woman using her baby as a shield.

It's pretty rough but Infinity Ward claims the new Modern Warfare sees missions "ripped straight from the headlines" and investigated the "civilian collateral damage" that comes hand-in-hand with war.

What was peculiar was that our presentation was shorter than those who had attended earlier in the week. We were only shown the London townhouse mission, whereas other journalists were shown an extra - more controversial - segment which seen players taking on the role of a child soldier in an unspecified war-torn country.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Is this a reboot of the classic Modern Warfare?
Not exactly. If you want to relive that Call of Duty 4 experience you'll want to dust off your PS3 or Xbox 360, or play the recent remaster of that game.

Instead, Infinity Ward is using the Modern Warfare name here to evoke a similar feeling, and some of the same characters will return but this is an entirely new storyline set in a different timeline.

It's totally separate to what we've seen in the previous games as here those events haven't occurred. We'll still follow Captain Price in this different timeline, and it may mean we see over returning characters throughout too.

Price features heavily in the trailer above, and he ends it by saying there's a team of his "old comrades" so it may well be that we see the return of other fan favorite characters such as Soap or Gaz.

This new timeline is also why the game isn't called Modern Warfare 4. It should mean it's a good place for new entrants to the series to pick up the game, but there's sure to be a few nods to the original series for die-hard fans.

Narrative director at Infinity Ward, Taylor Kurosaki, also noted that the game's storyline is still being tweaked but it's anywhere between five and nine hours long.

That means it's not set to be very long, but at least this time there is a storyline. Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 4 opted to drop the storyline in favor of focusing on online play, which is something we've heard very little about so far for this game.

No Zombie mode for Modern Warfare

Zombie mode might be a staple of the over-the-top Black Ops entries into the Call of Duty series, but the undead horde will not be being reanimated this time around in Modern Warfare according to Campaign Gameplay Director Jacob Minkoff.

In an interview with PlayStation Lifestyle, Minkoff said that the team's goal is to create something on par with today's battlefields - which, unfortunately, don't include any undead wandering around.

"We don't have the flexibility to do something like put zombies in the game. That would compromise the feeling of playing in a world that feels realistic and authentic and relative to today's conflicts and things we face," Minkoff said.

If you want Zombies, you'll just have to wait for the next Black Ops game.

Return of the Juggernaut

While Call of Duty Modern Warfare didn't have a huge presence at E3 2019, it did pop up at an E3 Coliseum event where Activision had the first two multiplayer screenshots. One shot shows a sniper in a ghillie suit, while the other shows a juggernaut suit – one of the most powerful pieces of gear from the original game.

A whole new engine

This title will be the first to use a whole new engine for the series, and that should allow for some drastic graphical improvements over previous titles including Black Ops 4. It's the first time the games will use a new engine in 14 years.

We've yet to learn the name of the engine, but we know that the franchise has been working on it for five years.

We expect to learn more about it in the coming months, but we can expect some more detailed environments, improved volumetric lighting and ray tracing technology too.

Expect controversy

According to ComicBook.com, the game be "heavy on troubling, realistic emotions, very much inspired by the controversial 'No Russian level"

That mission is in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. It was highly controversial at the time for depicting an undercover CIA agent who takes part in a mass shooting of civilians.

The trailer suggests other terrorist attacks may feature in the story, and children also feature so it may be these elements are used to stir up controversy.

Marvel’s Avengers game: release date, news, trailers and first impressions

Posted: 20 Jul 2019 01:47 AM PDT

After two years of secrecy, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are nearly ready to talk about their first Avengers game - or, as we know it, Marvel’s Avengers.

At Square Enix's E3 2019 press event, we finally got our first look at the game in a story trailer that seems to riff on some of the biggest moments from the Avengers comics. You'll play as your favorite Avengers in an all-new story set in the Marvel universe featuring many Avengers throughout the game (with the exception of Hawkeye) as you save the day from an evil force. According to Crystal Dynamics, the game has 'an all-star cast' that includes Laura Bailey, Nolan North and Troy Baker, some of the most preeminent voice actors in the videogame industry.

It was at this year's E3 that we also learned that the game will have a multiplayer component alongside a single-player campaign, though it wasn't shown off during the event. What we've heard from Crystal Dynamics in a closed-door briefing is that you'll assemble into teams of four online, customize your characters and fight online together through new scenarios. Crystal Dynamics says this content will be free and will come at a constant clip. Last, but not least, we got a confirmed release date: May 15, 2020.

Here's everything we know about Square Enix’s big foray into the Marvel universe.

[Update: San Diego Comic-Con has been and gone with some new details and a mighty trailer leak. Read on to find out more.]

Cut to the chase

  • What is it? Crystal Dynamic’s first Marvel game in a multi-game deal
  • When’s it out? May 15, 2020
  • What can I play it on? Xbox One, PS4, PC and Google Stadia. No word yet on Xbox Project Scarlett

Gameplay impressions

While no one was allowed to play the game at E3 2019, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics were allowing attendees to stop by and see an in-depth hands-off demo.

The way the game works is that you'll control each Avenger individually and control switches automatically between segments – a flying sequence you might play as Iron Man while a battle scene might use Hulk, for example. Each character has their own set of abilities that mirror what we've seen from comics, movies and other games, and combat largely looks like Marvel's Spider-Man, full of fluid dodging, combo attacks and Quick-Time Events.

It's a real cop-out to end the comparison at Marvel's Spider-Man, but that seems to be the look and feel Crystal Dynamics is going for – something that's easy to pick up and makes you feel powerful. The problem here is that, while all the characters have their own skills in combat (activated by the trigger buttons), there really wasn't a ton of variation in the actual gameplay. Most times, characters are shuffled into a battle arena, brawl for a few minutes with some fodder enemies, and then control shifts to the next Avenger in the sequence. It feels safe, but not all that exciting.

What Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal (who's co-developing the game) did get right are the massive set-pieces that serve as the main stage for the action. In the demo we saw, The Avengers were fighting to save civilians on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco from terrorists led by (spoilers!) Taskmaster.

The segment of gameplay we saw involved all five of the game's playable Avengers and culminated in a boss battle. The pacing leading up to the battle felt great, as did some of the Quick-Time Event segments that emulated the movies' big-budget action.

Marvel’s Avengers trailers and screenshots

It was supposed to be shown privately at San Diego Comic-Con and then released after Gamescom 2019 but the official gameplay footage for the game was leaked by attendees at the Comic-Con panel.

In what appears to be a more complete version of what was shown behind closed doors at E3 2019, the trailer shows off the prologue of the game's main story campaign which involves footage of Thor, Hulk and Iron Man in action as they defend an A-day event in San Francisco that's gone somewhat awry. Given it's a leaked trailer it's not the clearest footage in the world so do bear that in mind if you'd rather wait for the official thing.

Outside of the logo tweeted out by the game’s Twitter handle, there hasn’t been much in the way of official art.

What we do have, however, is the game’s first teaser trailer that came out last year. Check it out below:

The big unveiling for the game came at E3 2019, when Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics really let loose a lot of details and clips.

We've embedded the Avengers E3 2019 trailer below:

We've also got a number of screenshots from the trailer, embedded below:

Marvel’s Avengers news and features

San Diego Comic-Con

San Diego Comic-Con has been and gone but not without important happenings for Marvel's Avengers fans. In a panel for the game, hosted by creative director Shaun Escayg explained to attendees that the game would allow players to play through an original Avengers story, with customisable heroes and online multiplayer. There will be the main story campaign where you'll play as the various Avengers, and then the online co-op which is where you'll do your character customisation. This customisation will include skill trees as well as appearance changes.

There was also footage of the game shown. While this footage was supposed to be for attendees only and released around Gamescom to the public, it was leaked and you can see the leaked footage for yourself in our trailer section above.

The footage showed the prologue of the game's main story campaign which sees an A-day event in San Francisco gone wrong following an explosion. Footage of Thor, Iron Man and Hulk in action against the minions of Taskmaster. It shows the different kind of moves and skills each hero brings to the table but also reveals that more than the core group will appear in the game. Ms Marvel makes an appearance in the footage but whether or not she'll be playable is unknown.

Offline and solo gameplay

It's been confirmed that Marvel's Avengers will offer players the chance to play offline and alone, despite its focus on the online multiplayer experience. In an interview with GamesIndustryBiz, Crystal Dynamics boss, Scott Amos, said that players "can have a complete experience and have fun" even if they never go online.

No paywalls or Loot Boxes

It's also been confirmed by Scott Amos that paywalls and Loot Boxes will not be a feature of the game. It seems that monetization will come from entirely optional cosmetic purchases. These will allow players to invest in their favorite heroes and make them look exactly as they want them to.

"The idea, from the beginning, is that we want you to be able to customize your hero; how they look, how they play, the gear they have and how they use it," Amos said.

"Your Black Widow could be different to my Black Widow – just a little, maybe a lot – depending on what you favor and how you unlock things."

Of course, players will also be able to earn customization items as they play as well.

Official reveal

Marvel’s Avengers was finally revealed at the Square Enix E3 2019 press conference on Monday evening, giving us our first real look at the game since it was announced back in January 2017.

A "tribute to Stan"

Crystal Dynamics has revealed that the Marvel's Avengers game is a tribute to Stan Lee, who passed away in 2018. When we asked if Stan would be making in appearance in the game, the developer seemed coy but hinted we will be seeing the legend make a appearance.

Gameplay

The most important thing we saw was the gameplay, which looked to be a third-person adventure in the same vein as Marvel's Spider-Man. We know we'll get the chance to play as almost all of the most famous Avengers at some point, with the exception of Hawkeye who sadly wasn't part of the unveiling.

Marvel’s Avengers will feature “continuous single-player and co-operative gameplay”, and that players can “assemble in teams up to four players, master extraordinary abilities…and combine powers” – i.e. an online multiplayer component that Crystal Dynamics has yet to reveal, but we're hoping we'll hear more about that later.

Focus on story

Marvel’s Spider-Man blew us away last year with a story full of heart, characters we cared about, and some sensational performances to boot. Square Enix and developer Crystal Dynamics have a wonderful opportunity to deliver a narrative befitting the unbelievable roster of Marvel characters they have inherited.

Thankfully, it looks like they're doing just that with Avengers.

We know the game takes place after A-Day, the day the Avengers get honored for their service to the community. This day of jubilation is quickly ruined, however, and our heroes our ripped apart – which gives us real Disassembled vibes.

Apparently the heroes come back together and will have to face a new threat that wasn't revealed in the trailer.

Continuous content?

Crystal Dynamics emphasized the idea of a “continuous” game in an “ever-expanding world”. All this content may come first to PS4 thanks to a deal between Square Enix and Sony, but all of it will be free on every platform.  Recent games-as-a-service titles such as Destiny, Anthem, and The Division 2 aren’t exactly lauded for their top-tier narratives, so we’re hoping the reveal will confirm the experience won’t be diluted in favour of ever-lasting revenue.

Fresh, diverse range of playable heroes

Decades of comics, and 22 movies over 11 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ensure fans are well versed on many classic Marvel heroes. While we love Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, and Thor, we think it’s time to introduce some fresh, lesser-known faces in Marvel’s Avengers.

Unforunately, for whatever reason, Hawkeye wasn't part of the presentation and Hank Pym – a.k.a Ant Man – only got a supporting role.

We’d love to see Khan take centre stage, perhaps even alongside other more recent Avengers, such as Iron Heart, Miles Morales, and Squirrel Girl. Why not?

It's Crystal Dynamics' biggest game ever

In a recent interview, Crystal Dynamics studio head Scott Amos told GamesIndustry.biz that this is the developer's biggest game to date, requiring five studios from around the globe to make:

"We've had to change how we work, how we are organised as a team, the number of people we need to do this, the number of external partners... We've had to go hire experts like Shaun Escayg, who is our creative director. He told stories for Uncharted and The Last of Us [at Naughty Dog], we needed him to help tell this story. Dave Fifield was a game director who worked on Halo and Call of Duty, we needed him to help us with multiplayer," Amos said.

The five studios working on the title are Crystal Dynamics at Redwood Shores, a new studio in Bellevue called Crystal North West, Crystal Dynamics' partners in the Netherlands, Nixxes, Eidos Montreal and even Square Enix Japan.

Five teams to bring the five Avengers to life? Sounds about right.

Fortnite Battle Royale update news, patch notes and more

Posted: 20 Jul 2019 01:31 AM PDT

In such a short space of time, Fortnite Battle Royale has become certified gaming phenomenon. Pitting 100 players against each other on a single map, it melds fun, cartoonish gameplay with a fierce competitive streak, and has attracted millions of players across the globe across all ages and demographics.

Season 9 is now officially live, and we've got details of all the latest updates. We knew from the teaser tweet that we had a futuristic theme to look forward to, and so it's been proved.

To help you keep on top of what's new and what's coming up in Fortnite, we've put together this handy page which will be updated with all the latest announcements. So to get you ready for blast off, here's everything you need to know about Fortnite.

What is Fortnite?

There's been a lot of hype surrounding Fortnite since its release in July 2017. But what exactly is it?

Fortnite is a battle royale game which sees you thrown onto an island with no weapons or armor and it's up to you to scavenge for supplies and fight for your life to be the last man or squad standing at the end of the game – with the added pressure of a shrinking map that closes in as the match progresses, forcing players into tighter skirmishes.

The game is available for free on PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android, with in-game purchases limited to purely cosmetic options.

Fortnite update news and Fortnite patch notes

  • What's new? Fortnite Season 9 is live and we're now on patch 9.4. Find out what's involved below!

Fortnite is now into season 9 and version 9.40 is our latest patch with brand new items and gameplay to enjoy.

Weapons

This patch introduces a new weapon: the Epic and Legendary Tactical Shotgun. It is, as the name would suggest, available in Epic and Legendary variants which do 83 and 87 maximum damage respectively. It holds 8 shells which can be fired at 1.5 shots per second. If you manage to get a headshot expect a juicy damage multiplier of 2.25. You'll find this weapon in Floor Loot, Supply Drops, Chests, Loot Carriers and Vending Machines.

The Epic, Legendary and Rare variants of the Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle have also been unvaulted.

But, when Epic giveth, they also taketh away and this time to balance things out the Epic and Legendary variants of the Suppressed Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle has been vaulted.

Gameplay

There are no mind boggling gameplay changes to contend with as you'd expect but Epic has made it so that a player will automatically pick up a consumable if it's already in their inventory and their stack isn't maxed which makes a fair bit of sense and should keep play moving swiftly.

Further to that, if a player picks up an item that fills their stack and creates an overflow, they won't just drop their currently equipped item anymore. Instead, more sensibly, the overflow will be dropped.

Competitions

If you think you're good enough, a handful of Battle Royale competitions have been announced with some appealing prizes.

The Xbox Cup for Xbox players only will run on 20 and 21 of July. It's a solo game mode with $1 million in cash prizes to be distributed to winners across the server regions.

There's also the Trios Cash Cup running on 21 July. To take part in this competitive trios game you'll need to have reached Champion League in Arena play before proceedings kick off. But the prize pool for this is also $1 million.

Outside of active competitions, players can now also choose a flag to display on their career profile to declare their loyalty to their team. It'll be visible on profiles and on leaderboards. There are 37 flags available at the moment and more will be added in the future.

Mobile

Good news mobile users—it's now possible to use Bluetooth headsets for voice chat.

Those are the highlights, though there are plenty more small changes and bug fixes on top of this which can be found in the official Fortnite patch notes.

Can I play Fortnite on mobile?

Yes you can! Well, maybe. After months of waiting, Fortnite is finally on both iOS and Android, though you'll need a phone that can actually run the game.

iOS users can download straight from the App Store. As long as you're using iOS 11 on iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Air 2, iPad 2017, iPad Pro devices or later you'll be fine. Oh, and you'll need an internet connection, naturally.

Fortnite also hit Android phones and finally came out of beta in October 2018. You can see the full list of phones – and how to find the Fortnite Installer – on our Fortnite on Android page.

Is it the full game?

It is the full Fortnite game. There are some small differences: it’s not quite as visually impressive as it is on more powerful devices, the controls are touchscreen, and a lot of audio cues have been made visual so you can play comfortably in public without the need for headphones. But you won’t be missing out on any key features.

Fortnite update patch notes

What's the deal with cross-play?

A sweet deal is what it is. While previously Xbox One and PS4 owners couldn't play the game together, Sony's U-turn on the matter means that now everyone across Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android can all take part in the crossfire.

So if you've got friends that prefer PC, others that prefer console and you're off on holiday with your mobile, that's no reason for the fun to stop.

There's also cross-progression. So, if you're logged into your Fortnite account on mobile and you later log into your console to play there, everything you did on mobile later that day is carried over.

Sounds great, how do I get it?

We have a guide on how to get Fortnite on mobile on TechRadar and we're constantly updating it with the latest rollout news. If your device isn't there yet, keep checking back and one day it probably will be.

What's a Fortnite Battle Pass?

The Battle Pass is a purchasable item in Fortnite that gives you access to exclusive in-game rewards.

As players complete daily challenges and level up their rank, they earn Battle Stars which can then be used to unlock Tiers in their Battle Pass. Each new Tier you unlock will bring both Free and Premium rewards. The Tiers vary from season to season but in season three you get around 100 items in each Battle Pass which can take anywhere between 75 and 150 hours of play to unlock.

Everyone that has a Battle Pass will get the Free reward they unlock, but only Premium Pass holders will get the Premium reward. Battle Pass Premium can only be purchased with in-game V bucks and not with real money.

You can purchase a Battle Pass for around £7/$10 in the Battle Pass tab of the game’s menu.

Twitch Prime benefits

Those who use Twitch Prime and play Fortnite will be glad to know that they have access to free loot right now. Those with a Prime account can claim the Fortnite Twitch Prime Pack  and the Fortnite Twitch Prime Pack 2 which include a host of cosmetic items and are available across all platforms.

The first pack includes two exclusive gliders and outfits: the Havoc Outfit and Back Bling, plus the Sub Commander Outfit and Slipstream Glider.  The second pack contains three exclusive items for Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode including the camouflage-heavy Trailblazer Outfit, the True North Back Bling, and the Tenderizer Pickaxe. There’s also a brand new dance emote for those that like the dance floor as much as the battleground.

The packs can only be claimed on a single platform, but they can be shared across PC/console and mobile as long as you use the same Epic account across these platforms. You can’t however, share your loot across PS4 and Xbox One even if you are using the same Epic account.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 release date, price, news and leaks

Posted: 20 Jul 2019 01:00 AM PDT

When Samsung announces the Galaxy Note 10 handsets on August 7, we're expecting the company to also release a new tablet as successor to the Galaxy Tab S4. It's expected to be called the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6.

Why not the Galaxy Tab S5, you ask? Samsung already released the Galaxy Tab S5e, a budget version of its tablet line, but all the latest rumors point to the company skipping the Galaxy S5 for a Galaxy S6 designation.

We'd usually take pre-release leaks with a pinch of salt, but there are so many different voices saying the same thing that it make us think Samsung will skip the Tab S5 and jump straight to the S6.

Below we've compiled what we know so far about the upcoming Android tablet, as well as what we'd like to see when it is officially unveiled.

Cut to the chase

  • What is it? Samsung's newest high-end tablet
  • When is it out? Likely early August 2019
  • How much will it cost? More than the Tab S4's $650 / £599 / AU$920

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 price and release date

We're expecting to see the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 alongside the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Watch Active 2, which are expected to launch on August 7, 2019.

When will you be able to buy them though? We'd expect them to be available to purchase in the weeks following the launch event, although sometimes tablets take a little longer to become available.

We've not heard too much on pricing, however, and some of the leaks make us think this device could be far more premium than Samsung's other devices.

As such we'd expect the Galaxy Tab S4's initial price of $650 / £599 (around AU$920) to be trumped a bit by the Tab S6 price. Considering the iPad Pro 11 hits a four-figure amount for some variants, we may see Samsung jump up in price too.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 news, rumors and leaks

We haven't heard that much about the Galaxy Tab S6, as we're not 100% sure Samsung will skip the S5, so there have been a few rumors around that device – but each leak provides a lot of information.

For one, we've heard that the slate will have two rear cameras, which is very rare in a tablet as the devices aren't used for photography much.

We're not exactly sure what the secondary camera is for. The tablet could have an ultra-wide or telephoto lens for wide-angle or zoomed pictures respectively. It may even be a Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor for accurately judging depth, which could prove useful for augmented reality experiences.

On the back of the slate is supposedly a groove that lets you dock the S Pen easily, without having to balance it on the top of the device with magnets like on the iPad Pro.

It's expected the S Pen would wirelessly charge when put into that groove.

One rumor suggests the Galaxy Tab S6 will use the most recent premium Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 855, which would give it a hefty amount of processing power.

That's not much to go on for now, but with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 stealing most peoples' attention the Tab S6 is being overshadowed slightly and it may remain that way until its launch.

What we want to see

We've put together a selection of improvements over the Galaxy Tab S4 that we'd like to see Samsung make for its next-gen tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S4

Better processing power

The Galaxy Tab S4 launched with the Snapdragon 835 chipset, which wasn't the best processor out at the time, and it felt a little bit slow to use.

Compared to the iPad Pro range, which features some incredible processing power, the Tab S range often feels a little slow.

If Samsung wants to position its slates as genuine competitors to Apple's powerhouse options, it could do with optimizing them quite a bit more. Hopefully the Tab S6 will allow for that.

Wireless charging or PowerShare

We'd expect the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 to launch with a pretty hefty battery as most tablets do. Wouldn't it be great if you could share that power with your other devices?

The Samsung Galaxy S10 range introduced Wireless PowerShare that lets you convert your smartphone into a wireless charger to power up your headphones, or other smartphones.

If the same was the case for a slate, it would be incredibly useful, due to the sheer size of most tablet batteries.

A bigger screen?

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 has a 10.5-inch screen, which is fairly decent for a tablet but it doesn't match the larger sizes of the iPad Pro range. Having a huge screen is great for working, as you can see lots of information at once, plus it's good for watching video as it helps better recreate a cinema experience on your lap.

If Samsung really wanted to push into the 'premium' tablet market, then, it could do so by stretching the screen a little, or at least offer various size options.

We expected the company to do this for the Tab S5 range, by offering the Tab S5e as a separate device, but by the looks of it that was just a flash in the pan.

Perhaps we could even see the Tab S6 come in a range of sizes, like the Galaxy S10 phones with the S10e, S10 and S10 Plus range.

Pacquiao vs Thurman live stream: how to watch the boxing online from anywhere

Posted: 20 Jul 2019 12:12 AM PDT

Eight-division world champion; Philippine Senator; legend. Manny Pacquiao is set to return to the ring tonight for a showdown with undefeated Super WBA Welterweight Champion Keith Thurman in Sin City. It's one of the most eagerly anticipated fights of the year, and you can watch it all with our guide to getting a Pacquiao vs Thurman live stream.

Future Hall-of Fame inductee Pacquiao may now be the wrong side of 40, but recent wins confirm him as a relevant and explosive boxer at this weight. Meanwhile the speed and power of Thurman makes him arguably the most naturally talented boxer in a hugely competitive division.

Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KOs) comes into the fight off the back of an impressive points decision victory over Adrien Broner back in January which saw Pac Man defend his WBA (regular) welterweight title.

Thurman's (29-0, 22 KOs) last appearance in the ring also came in January with a majority decision over Josesito Lopez. It was an understandably rusty display for Thurman, as it marked the end of a near-two-year layoff for the American thanks to injuries.

Pacquiao is no stranger to giving up height and reach, and his opponent on Saturday will again hold the advantage in both attributes, but it's Thurman's speed and power that will be worrying the veteran who is ten years his senior.

To catch everything online, you've come to the right place. Read on to find out how to stream Pacquiao vs Thurman live anywhere in the world.
