If you thought the best Cyber Monday deals had been and gone, think again – anyone on the hunt for a huge TV have just got a very tempting offer from Amazon in the US.

It's knocking an enormous 65% off the price of the Sony X830F 70-inch 4K HDR TV, a massive Alexa-enabled smart TV, bringing that price down to a reasonable $799.99 from a whopping $2,299. That's a hell of a lot of TV for a price that some similar spec'd TVs at half the size would cost.

Today's best Cyber Monday TV deal

While it's not one of Sony's absolute flagship models, it's still a very capable TV, making use of  Sony's Triluminous display technology for vibrant colours and rich contrast levels, as well as offering 120Hz motion for clarity in fast-moving scenes and sports broadcasts.

As for the platform, Sony's using Android TV, which offers all the major streaming services, voice control with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and plenty of options for renting and buying TV shows and movies. It's a great way to get a cinematic experience in your house without breaking the bank.

The cheapest Cyber Monday Sonos deals and sales

Posted: 02 Dec 2019 01:09 PM PST

Build a Sonos multi-room music system for your home could be very pricey. But you can save big with some smart buys hunting the cheapest Cyber Monday Sonos deals and sales.

Sonos speaker systems offer a broad range of wireless connectivity options to get your music pumping throughout your home, tapping into your personal collection of MP3s as well as streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music. From soundbars to subwoofers, there are Sonos speakers for all occasions – though if you don't pick them up within sales seasons, be prepared for premium pricing.

We have hot deals for the whole line-up, including not just the Sonos One, Play:3 and Play:5 but also the Sonos Playbar, Sub, Sonos Beam, Sonos Playbase and Connect as well.

The best Black Friday Sonos speakers deals and prices

While there are several terrific offers below, there's no harm in looking forward to Sonos speakers discounts during Black Friday 2019. Lucky for you, we've put together a guide on how to find the best Cyber Monday deals. We'll also tell you everything else you need to know, such as when the sale starts, what prices to expect, and which retailers will be participating.

US deals

This deal is for a Sonos One SL, which is explicitly not a smart speaker. It doesn’t even come with a mic, which is perfect for those avoiding the smart assistant life...or who just want a simple audio speaker without the fuss. Note that this speaker was originally $179 before its price was slashed for the holiday season - and now it’s just gotten even cheaper.

This trio of Best Buy deals are for higher-end sound options:

And in the UK, Sonos is running a sale of its own, too:

So what’s a good deal for Sonos speakers?

Good deals are subjective, obviously. But if we were in your shoes, we’d wait for at least a $50/£35/AU$75-off sale. These happen around the holidays, mostly, but do happen sporadically  throughout the year as well.

If you’re looking for a recommendation, your best bet is to start your Sonos system with a Play:5, the big brother of the bunch, and work your way down. We also have a soft spot in our heart for the Playbar (it’s on our best soundbar list, after all) and a Play One is a great pick for kitchens, bedrooms and studies.

If you want the latest and greatest from Sonos, check out the brand-new Sonos Playbase – it's a speaker and TV stand all in one package. OK, without further ado, here are the best Sonos deals we’ve found today.

Sonos One deals

Sonos and Alexa, Amazon's smart personal assistant, are a perfect match for one another - it's almost a wonder it's taken this long for the two of them to meet. Regardless, the Sonos One is here now and it combines the best of both worlds. The One is able to call upon Alexa to answer basic inquiries, adjust appointments on your calendar and, for Amazon Prime members, voice access to Amazon's expansive Music Unlimited library.

It was a long time coming, but the Sonos Beam was finally a Sonos soundbar worth waiting for. With a design small enough to match most TVs, it's equipped with smart features, innovation and exquisite sound that impresses. There are a few issues worth pointing out (the lack of Dolby Atmos at the price disappoints), but the way the speaker fits in with the rest of the Sonos eco-system makes it a must-have for those that have invested in other Sonos devices.

Providing you've got a HDMI-ARC compatible TV (which most modern ones are) it's easy to set-up and, if you've got other compatible Sonos speakers, it's a simple way to get wireless surround sound for your movies, too.

Sonos Play:1 deals

The Sonos Play:1 is the alpha in Sonos' alphabet. It's not the most powerful of the bunch, but it definitely knows how to get the job done. It's 6.36 x 4.69 x 4.69 inches (161.45 x 119.7 x 119.7 mm) and 4.08 lbs (1.85 kg) but it can really kick. It comes in two colors – white with light metallic grille and black with graphite grille – and works with standard wall mounts and speaker stands. We love how easy it is to setup and its awesome sound quality, but thought that its low end could use a bit of oomph. Still, if you're looking to start a Sonos system without spending a lot, the Sonos Play:1 is the place to start.

Read our review: Sonos Play:1

Sonos Play:3 deals

The Sonos Play:3 is the middle child of the bunch. It's more powerful than the puny Play:1, but doesn't have the same room-filling audio that you get from the Play:5. For some people, though, it's just right. So how big is it? The Play:3 is 5.2 x 10.6 x 6.3 inches (132 x 268 x 160 mm) and weighs 5.71 lbs. (2.6 kg). It comes in two colors – white with light metallic grille and black with graphite grille – and works with standard wall mounts and speaker stands. It has three Class-D amplifiers, one tweeter, two mid-woofers and a bass radiator. Again, here you'll find great audio quality and a pretty easy setup.

Read our review: Sonos Play: 3

Sonos Play:5 deals

Here it is, the grand kahuna of the Sonos systems. The Sonos Play:5 is everything you can want in a network speaker. It gets loud, but also sounds crystal clear at top volumes. It's obviously a bigger than its brethren, however, so keep that in mind before you try stuffing one into a one-room apartment. So how big is it? It's 8.03 x 14.33 x 6.06 inches (203 x 364 x 154 mm) and weighs 14 lbs. (6.36 kg). It comes in two colors – white or black matte enclosure with graphite grille – and contains two built-in microphones that can tune it for your space. Unlike the Play:3 it has five Class-D amplifiers, three tweeters, three mid-woofers and a phased speaker array that separates sound into its three channels – left, right and center. Good sound doesn't come cheap, but once you hear a Sonos Play:5 speaker you won't want anything else.

Sonos Playbar deals

TVs might look great, but most of them definitely don't sound all that good. That's why Sonos made the Playbar, a soundbar that can produce top-tier audio quality while simultaneously syncing up to your other multi-room speakers. It's definitely expensive, no doubt about it, but there's no other soundbar this well-connected. Here are some specs: First off, it's 3.35 x 35.43 x 5.51 inches (85 x 900 x 140 mm) and weighs 11.9 lbs. (5.4kg). It only comes in one color and requires a separate mounting kit if you want to mount it beneath your screen. Unlike the Play:5, it has nine Class-D amplifiers, three tweeters and six mid-woofers – that can put out a ton of noise.

Sonos Playbase deals

Three years after the company released its first ever soundbar, the Playbar, Sonos has created the Playbase, a unique form factor sound system that combines a stable pedestal for your TV with an audio cabinet.

Why did Sonos create a second home entertainment device? The team did extensive research into how people used their Playbar at home and found that most people didn’t wall mount their televisions or Playbars. To that end, the Playbase was created to allow people to set their televisions right on top of the speaker, allowing for a compact home theater solution.

Overall, the Sonos Playbase is a good-sounding speaker for those who don’t want to fumble with a surround sound system or simply don’t have the room for one. There’s no need for a receiver, making it truly plug-and-play. Sonos’ philosophy of making music enjoyment as frictionless as possible continues with the Playbase – the Sonos app is easy to use and the integrated universal search across music services is something we wished every speaker had.

Read our review: Sonos Playbase

Sonos Sub deals

Sonos systems are great. Like seriously great. We want to call them perfect, and yet without some sort of low-end support they just aren't. For that you need the Sonos Sub, the additional audio piece that adds a hefty amount of bass to your favorite music genres. The design here is a bit funky, we'll admit, but hey, if you were looking for a conversation starter (and ender) at your next house party, this is it. That said, it's 15.3 x 15.8 x 6.2 inches (389 x 402 x 158 mm) and weighs 36.3 lbs (16 kg). It's available in two colors – premium white gloss and premium black gloss – that can match either your Playbar or Play:5 speaker. Inside you'll find two Class-D amplifiers, two force-cancelling speaker drivers and dual acoustic ports that help the Sub reach a low frequency of about 25Hz.

Read our hands on review: Sonos Sub

Sonos Connect deals

There's nothing wrong with your old audio equipment. You've invested years in setting up and tuning your system, and there's no reason to let any of that go to waste. For anyone interested in keeping the equipment they already own but add on a streaming or mutil-room audio component, Sonos Connect is your solution. While it's not exactly a player in its own right, Sonos Connect allows you to send or receive audio streams. That means you can hook it up to your receiver to send out your favorite CD over the airwaves in your home, or set it up with your old floor speakers to bring them into the 21st century.

This cheaper model doesn't come with a dock or removable controllers and can only be played in handheld mode. We'll show you where to get your Nintendo Switch Lite orders below too.

There's also an updated version of the original Switch being rolled out nowadays too with an improved battery. That's the only change, but prices are generally the same as the older model. The old version model number was HAC-001 and the box featured a lifestyle image with a hand grabbing the console. While the new model number is HAC-001(-01) and the box has an all-red background and no hand.

We're listing all of the best Nintendo Switch sales right here and we're always on the the lookout for the best bundles with extra games, controllers and other accessories so we can share them with you while they're hot. Scroll past the bundles on this page and we'll show you prices on extra Joy-Con and Pro controllers and Nintendo Switch memory cards too. If you want to play online multiplayer and get other benefits like free games you'll want to pick up a Nintendo Switch Online subscription deal too.

US Nintendo Switch bundles have really picked up for the Cyber Monday deals, so now is a great time to pick up a fantastic deal. In the UK this week there's more variety thanks to the seasonal sales picking up considerably over the weekend. You'll find all the cheapest Nintendo Switch bundles from reliable retailers below.

If you're looking for another dose of Nintendo's handheld happiness then maybe you want to consider a cheap 3DS deal too. We have a dedicated page of Nintendo Switch prices for our Australian readers too.

The Nintendo Switch Lite was recently released at just $199.99/£199.99. That's $100/£80 less than the original Switch console. If you want to play games on the TV as well, you should go for the standard Nintendo Switch instead as the Lite is only playable in handheld mode.

The Nintendo Switch Lite comes in multiple colour options. You can pick one up now in turquoise, gray and yellow. There will also be a special edition Zacian & Zamazenta Edition released on November 8 to celebrate the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield. It doesn't come with the game, but doesn't cost anything extra either. If you want to learn more about the console and see prices for every individual color and bundle, check out our Nintendo Switch Lite prices and deals guide.

The latest cheap Nintendo Switch deals

Want to know where to buy a Nintendo Switch? Check out our comparison charts and the latest bundle highlights with extra games and accessories below for the best deals. On its own, the MSRP/RRP Nintendo Switch price is $299 in the USA and £279 in the UK, so you don't want to pay more than that unless you're getting some extras.

We've highlighted our picks of the best and cheapest Nintendo Switch bundles below. Just be aware that many game bundles at quieter times of the year don't really offer much of a discount over buying the items separately. We'll steer you clear of console bundles that actively charge you more than the regular combined MSRP (not cool, guys!).

The UK scene for discounted Nintendo Switch deals is quite competitive thanks to the large number of retailers trying to get your business. We usually find a strong selection of bundles every week nowadays, even in those quieter times of year not particularly known for sales. So take a look below for discounts on packages with games, hardware and accessories.

As with any new console we imagine you're wanting to know a bit more about the console before you put any money down. So in addition to finding the best Nintendo Switch bundle deals, we're going to help bring in answers to the burning questions.

Nintendo Switch Joy-con controller deals

What are the Joy-Con controllers?

The Joy-Con controller is actually a pair of controllers that attach to the sides the the Nintendo Switch when not in use or when playing in tablet form away from the TV. When playing the Nintendo Switch on the TV, you can remove them and play with one in each hand. The left hand gets a controller with an analogue stick and d-pad, the right hand handles the one with a second analogue and the usual A, B, X and Y face buttons. Or you and a friend can use one each in multiplayer games with the d-pad doubling up as impromptu face buttons.

You get a pair with the console, but you might want to buy more to allow extra players to get involved in games like Mario Kart 8, FIFA 19 and many more. Or maybe you just fancy some different colors for your own use.

Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Grip controller

What's the Joy-Con Grip controller?

The Joy-Con Grip is an additional accessory that joins the two Joy-Con controllers together, forming something something a bit more solid for you to hold thanks to the extended handles and plastic block between the two sides. The square dimension form-factor may remind older gamers of the Dreamcast controller, while everyone else will mainly be thinking how it resembles an odd-looking dog face. Nintendo is providing one in the box with the Nintendo Switch, so you won't have to buy one separately. This won't charge your controller though and doesn't have a battery pack.

You won't actually need a Nintendo Switch Pro controller to play any games, so don't feel pressured in to buying one. The Nintendo Switch Pro controller is a more traditional-style pad and launched alongside the Nintendo Switch. Prices aren't cheap though, starting around $69.99/£64.99. There's no sign of a Nintendo Switch Premium Edition console with one included either.

Do I need to buy extra controllers for multiplayer on Nintendo Switch?

Possibly not! Remember how the Joy-Con controller splits in two? Turn them sideways and you get two basic controllers, each with their own analogue stick and face buttons - the d-pad acts as face functions on the left controller. We've seen 2K's NBA series, Snipper Clips, FIFA 19, and Mario Kart being used this way for local multiplayer in both docked and tablet modes. So you get multiplayer functionality straight out of the box with no additional purchase required.

However, if you want to play four-player games, then you're going to need to invest in an extra pair of Joy-Con controllers or some Pro controllers. We'd buy the Joy-Cons as a pair (see our comparison chart above) as you'll save a bit of cash over buying them separately. Better yet, if your friends own a Switch, ask them to bring their controllers to the party!

Super Mario Odyssey deals

This has been one of the best games on the Nintendo Switch so far and an absolute must for Mario and platforming fans. Like Zelda below though, this being a first-party Nintendo title, it's taking forever to go down in price. It's slowly happening though, so we've rounded up the cheapest Super Mario Odyssey prices for you below. If you're not getting this game in a bundle, we'd strongly advise picking it up separately as soon as possible.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild deals

The reviews have heaped huge praise upon this eagerly awaited launch title, making it an essential purchase for any Nintendo Switch buyer. As with any new console, the prices of the big games can be more expensive than usual. We've shopped around for you though and have found the best prices for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch. Take a look below.

With only 32GB of internal storage, you'll be wanting to pick up a cheap memory card or two for your new Nintendo Switch for any digital purchases or the inevitable game-fixing patches. Don't fret though, they're actually surprisingly cheap, with even 64GB ones coming in at under £20/$25.

What memory cards does the Nintendo Switch need? Those will be Micro SD cards also known as, depending on their size, as MicroSDHC (up to 32GB) or MicroSDXC (up to a huge 2TB soon). Nintendo also has their own branded cards, but you'll be paying more just for a label. So for now, we'd take a look at this range of cheap MicroSDXC Nintendo Switch-friendly cards.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus S had a huge Cyber Monday Lightning deal, but it's already gone

Posted: 02 Dec 2019 12:12 PM PST

The Asus ROG Zephyrus S is straight up one of the best gaming laptops on the market. Not only is it packed with incredibly powerful hardware, but it's so thin, light and just attractive (as tech goes) that you're going to want to take it everywhere you go.

And, with this Cyber Monday deal, it's more affordable than ever before. However, this is a Lightning deal from Amazon, so it sold out incredibly quickly – in just 6 minutes, in fact.

Not in the US? Scroll down for Asus Zephyrus S deals in your neck of the woods.

You can knock off a whopping $800 off the asking price for this beautiful laptop with this Cyber Monday laptop deal from Amazon, dropping the price down to a super-accessible $1,199. For a laptop of this calibre, that's an absolute steal.

This particular configuration of the Asus Zephyrus S is packed with an Intel Core i7-9750H processor, 16GB of RAM, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 and a 512GB SSD. Basically, there isn't a PC game out there that this laptop won't absolutely smash, especially at its native resolution.

That native resolution, by the way is 1,920 x 1,080, which may seem low to some. However, it is a 144Hz panel, so games are going to feel incredibly smooth, especially if you can actually get to 144 fps – which with this laptop, will be most games. The Asus ROG Zephyrus S is, especially at this price, one of the best gaming laptops around, and you should absolutely jump on this deal if you're after a great gaming laptop.

Shhh! There's a secret iPad Pro 11 deal for $649 on Cyber Monday

Posted: 02 Dec 2019 11:49 AM PST

There's a secret iPad Pro 11 Cyber Monday deal at Best Buy today, but many online shoppers are passing it by, according to people we've talked to. That's good news for you.

Normally $799.99, the iPad Pro 11 64GB is just $649.99 at Best Buy, taking it down $150 in an extremely rare Apple deal. This iPad Pro is the latest model (Apple hasn't introduced a newer iPad Pro since late last year) and both the space gray and silver colors are in stock.

There's a catch – you'll have to log into a My Best Buy account to even see the $650 iPad Pro price. Anyone not logged into a free member account will see the full price of $800. That's a big difference and this could be why this iPad Cyber Monday deal is still available.

Again, don't let the non-member price fool you. When we logged into a completely free My Best Buy account, we were able to see the $649.99 price tag. Here's a photo of the deal in action, as proof that it still exists.

Best Buy iPad Pro 11 deal

You can see that the iPad Pro deal for $649.99 is still available, but you'll have to log into a free account to get it.

There have been several Apple iPad deals during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but we've seen very few price drops on the redesigned iPad Pro models. Mostly, US retailers like Amazon, Walmart and Target have been pushing the cheaper iPad 10.2 and a few have given the slightly superior iPad Air a price drop.

This 75-inch 4K TV is just $700 for Cyber Monday

Posted: 02 Dec 2019 11:19 AM PST

You might’ve heard rumors about a TCL 75-inch 4K TV sale going on now for Cyber Monday that saw a 75-inch 4-Series TV down to just $599. It sounded too good to be true but, lo and behold, the deal turned out to be true and was quickly swallowed up.

So does that mean you won’t get a 75-inch screen this year? Don't give up yet in the US. (Not in the US? Scroll down to see the 75-inch 4K TV deals in the UK.)

Best Buy has a similar deal on the 75-inch Hisense R7E Roku TV that’s dropped down to just $699.99 for Cyber Monday. Like the 4-Series, the R7E is a 4K TV with HDR and uses Roku TV, plus it’s fairly well-reviewed by customers.

Basically, if you want a 75-inch TV today and can’t find that 4-Series in stock, get this Hisense instead.

Apple's iPhone 11 range hits its lowest SIM-free price ever this Cyber Monday

Posted: 02 Dec 2019 10:59 AM PST

Over Black Friday and now with Cyber Monday deals, Apple's latest and greatest have completely exceeded our expectations. In typical Apple fashion, we expected the deals to be limited and yet we've had some wonders on the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and now some exceptional SIM-free phone deals too.

So exceptional in fact, that all of Apple's latest devices - the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max - have just plummeted to their lowest ever SIM-free prices. That means if you choose the 11 Pro or Pro Max, you could be saving up to a whopping £100.

Go for Apple's more budget iPhone 11 and you'll be saving a modest £30. While that might not sound like much, it is still the lowest that phone has been since release and is likely to be its lowest price for quite a while!

The other good news here is that these prices aren't just available from one retailer. In the competitive nature of Cyber Monday iPhone deals, both Amazon and Very have matched each other for price giving you two different options. And if you need a cheap SIM only deal to put in it, there's some pretty good ones of those around today, too.

What makes the iPhone 11 range so good?

The iPhone 11 is the cheapest of the three phones and yet, really isn't much of a downgrade. You still get Apple's new incredibly fast CPU, a 6.1-inch screen, IP68 rating and even a 3046mAh battery, enough to keep you going all the way through the day on one charge.

Read our full iPhone 11 review

Stepping up in both price and specs, the iPhone 11 Pro is the middle of the three phones. That means 3190mAh battery, the same super powerful CPU but weirdly, the smallest screen of the three. If you like the iPhone 11 and its price but want something a bit stronger, this could be the phone to go for.

Read our full iPhone 11 Pro review

For those looking for the best in life, the iPhone 11 Pro Max is just that. It currently stands as the best (and most expensive) iPhone on the market but it is clear to see why. A 3969mAh battery, a camera night-mode to compete with the best and even Apple's own Super Retina XDR OLED screen - a fancy way of saying 'very high definiton'.

Intel confirms modem chip business sale to Apple

Posted: 02 Dec 2019 10:48 AM PST

In a recent court filing, Intel revealed that it sold its smartphone modem chip business to Apple at a “multi-billion dollar loss” as it was allegedly forced out of the market by Qualcomm.

The US chipmaker made this claim in a brief filed with the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals where its rival Qualcomm is currently trying to overturn an antitrust decision against it following a lawsuit by the US Federal Trade Commission.

Back in May, US District Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose wrote a 233-page decision in which she said that Qualcomm's patent licensing practices “strangled competition” in the modem chip market. Koh then ordered the company to renegotiate its licensing agreements to be more reasonable.

However, Qualcomm appealed the ruling and it won't be enforced until after the appeal is concluded.

Intel vs Qualcomm

In a recent blog post, executive vice president and general counsel at Intel, Steven R. Rodgers explained that the chipmaker was forced out of the market due to Qualcomm's patent licensing practices and he argued that the decision against the company should stand, saying:

“We invested billions, hired thousands, acquired two companies and built innovative world-class products that eventually made their way into Apple’s industry-leading iPhones, including the most recently released iPhone 11. But when all was said and done, Intel could not overcome the artificial and insurmountable barriers to fair competition created by Qualcomm’s scheme and was forced to exit the market this year.”

Qualcomm has denied the FTC's accusations against it and other parts of the US government have even urged the appeals court to pause enforcement of the FTC ruling against the company.

However, replacing Qualcomm won't be so easy as both the Pentagon and the Department of Energy said in July that Qualcomm was a “trusted” supplier of 5G technology and that the firm would be “impossible to replace” in the short term.

Amazon's PS4 Pro $299 deal with three great games is sold out

Posted: 02 Dec 2019 10:45 AM PST

Update: it's sold out. See our PS4 Pro deals page for more bargains.

Original story: Right now, Amazon has a PS4 Pro and three amazing games - Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition and God of War - for just $299.99 as part of its Cyber Monday deals. You know how Amazon's lightning deals work: they're only available for a limited time, so if you want this offer, take advantage before it's either sold out or the deal has ended. At the time of writing, it's 95% sold, so you'll want to move fast to get it.

Not in the US? Read on for the best PS4 Pro deals where you are...

This is a 1TB-equipped, 4K-ready console, and it's the best version of the PS4 you can buy. These three games, meanwhile, take tens of hours to finish each, and they're all exclusive to the PS4. If you've never played any of them, Spider-Man is the place to start: it captures the character better than any other game in history, and it's a real treat.

This is likely to be one of the last great PS4 deals over Cyber Monday. You've got a year to wait until the PS5 gets here: this upgraded PS4 might be the way to go if you're in the mood for a new system, or you just bought a new 4K TV and want something to show off on it.

These are the best PS4 Pro deals for people not in the US:

Go big over Cyber Monday with this exclusively cheap Huawei P30 deal

Posted: 02 Dec 2019 10:44 AM PST

Yes, Black Friday is a time for getting things at their cheapest prices, but the trouble with the best smartphones is...they're still expensive, even after a major discount. Except one choice - the Huawei P30.

Unlike a lot of the other phones that share similar specs and designs, the Huawei P30 has always stood tall with a pretty affordable price tag. And luckily, with Black Friday upon us, those prices have dropped further.

One deal tops the rest thanks purely to its monthly cost of just £20 a month. Of course, with such a low monthly cost you would expect a gigantic upfront spend. But exclusively with TechRadar's code TRBF30, you only have to pay £99 upfront.

The only conceivable problem we can identify with this offer is its 4GB of data cap. If that stops you in your tracks, consult our guide to the best Huawei P30 deals to find a more data-heavy option.

How good is the Huawei P30?

As we said above, the Huawei P30 is an impressive handset but the thing that really stands out here is the camera. At this price tag, we're happy in saying that this might just be the best camera phone around. With its triple lens set-up featuring a 30x zoom, wide angle, portrait mode and smart AI features, this camera will shine no matter the situation.

Inside the phone, there's a large 3650mAh battery, the processor is incredibly powerful and there's even a headphone jack on board! Yes, the device lacks wireless charging and doesn't have the highest IP rating but those are factors we're more than willing to forgive.

T-Mobile has shown just how fast 5G is by launching its new network four days early

Posted: 02 Dec 2019 10:43 AM PST

T-Mobile just jumped ahead of schedule by launching its 5G network, meaning you won't have to wait until the planned December 6 date to test it out.

The move coincides with the debut of the specialized OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition phone, which joins the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G and Galaxy S10 5G as the first of T-Mobile's 5G phones to be available starting today.

T-Mobile announced in the launch with press release and a goofy video shared by CEO John Legere on Twitter.

T-Mobile boasts that the difference between its 5G network and those from competing networks like Sprint 5G and Verizon 5G is the wider coverage map. It's able to offer broader coverage because the company is using the 600MHz spectrum for the foundation of its 5G network.

While Sprint's and Verizon's 5G networks are available in select cities, with coverage further limited by the employed spectrum's ability to penetrate buildings (a weakness we experienced in our testing, especially with Verizon), T-Mobile claims its 5G network now covers one million square miles and 60% of the US population.

T-Mobile 5G coverage map NYC

T-Mobile's 5G coverage map for the New York area

The T-Mobile 5G coverage maps and trade-offs

There are trade-offs to the broader T-Mobile coverage maps. Its newly deployed 5G network operates only on that low-band 600MHz frequency right now, which means it doesn't offer the same insane data throughput we've seen from Verizon's mmWave in our 5G speed test

In fact, in its press release, the word "fast" isn't even mentioned, and "speed" is mentioned only once. Until the merger between Sprint and T-Mobile goes through, T-Mobile may not be able to compete with the others in terms of speed.

But T-Mobile has teased that faster 5G. The end of the launch video hints at the "New T-Mobile 5G" network that would be enabled through the carrier's merger with Sprint and integration of mid-band spectrum.

T-Mobile is offering its 5G service in a number of forms, from its unlimited plans to pre-paid options. The high-end devices from OnePlus and Samsung are also just the start, it says. The official plans are to offer 15 more 5G phones in 2020.

Listen up: this bookshelf speaker deal is great if you're on a budget

Posted: 02 Dec 2019 10:39 AM PST

If you're after a solid pair of computer speakers, or even just some bookshelf speakers to listen to your favorite records, the Edifier R1280T are an excellent budget choice. And, for a limited time, you can get a massive Cyber Monday deal that makes them even cheaper.

Right now you can pick up the Edifier R1280T for just $64.99, down from its already-affordable $99.99 list price. This deal is only active today, but it's such a bargain that it just may be worth rushing onto Amazon to pick it up.

At this price point, the Edifier R1280T absolutely punch way above their weight class, offering high-quality sound in an attractive package. Plus, you can use them for pretty much anything, and if you have a record player, you won't even need an external amp.

These speakers get loud, too, so you'll have no problem filling the room with sound, and because the drivers are high quality, you don't have to worry about any crackling or popping. Just be aware that if you want to use them as computer speakers (like we do), you'll need either a sound card or an RCA to 3.5mm adapter.
